Preview image much brighter in camera than when I download it

Hi all,

 

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I'm hoping someone can help. If I take an image and preview it in camera, it looks perfect, but on downloading, the image is always significantly darker and needs the exposure lifted a fair bit. Can anyone help with how I fix this? I shoot in RAW so don't know if that makes a difference, but it's frustrating that I think my exposure is correct in camera and then always need to lift it once I've downloaded it.

The preview doesn’t show the actual exposure with the standard settings. Take a look at this thread for information about changing the preview setup:
