Since the camera is so small, you can easily move the focusarea by accident without noticing it. (The thump tuch the joystick)

Is there at way to lock the focus area in the mittle og the objeckt, staying there untill you unlock it again?

This problem had really p**sed me off, BUT there is a new update which addresses it - thank goodness. After installation go to wrench (spanner), button/dial and go right to the end of the options were you will find a LOCK function. Click on that and you will be given a whole list of buttons/dials which you can lock, one of which is the focus lever. Hallelujah - it works! No more worrying about where the focus point has gone after the camera has been swinging around your clothing on the end of the strap.

I have my back focus button enabled and remember assigning AF-Lock as well to the same button. I am not sure it works/worked, because today while I set my focus using the 'back button focus' and roamed around clicking more pics. Noticed that most of the shots were not in focus and also noticed the focus point had moved away from the centre. I will explore the new settings that Bro. @Alchymist has mentioned. Thanks.

    • I've been using an X-T3 for years... Now I just decided to give an X-T50 a try, mainly for IBIS and supposedly better autofocus... As light goes down it is much worst, I started to notice it immediately! I tried with bot the 27mm 2.8 and the 35 1.4, I know not the best lenses for autofocus, but still the X-T3 handles it much quicker in difficult/dark situations, Here is a video, the first is the X-T3, the second the X-T50: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/14mxqd5xkltwz609x3s52/test-focus.mp4?rlkey=xsc6v5zzke2n4m9q4x2wldoci&dl=0 Tracking is even worst!!! : https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9kejtzmlkidyauymh53nk/test-focus2.mp4?rlkey=axg3j51c4nknwgz4ewf9obuj2&dl=0 Both camera same exact settings, both on latest firmware and both in boost mode
    • In addition to above suggestions: in auto-iso, set minimum shutter speed appropriate to your focal length. In low-light conditions, set aperture wide open (f1.4-f2).
    • Ghosts and goblins and all sorts of fey critters are stirring again. It is that time of the year. Be careful, they will soon be out and about... Boo!

    • First thing to try would be a factory reset. If the camera locks up before you can select it in its menus, it is still possible clear its settings-memory (cmos?) by leaving it without battery for a while. Actually don't know for how long you would need to leave it, as I accidentally discovered this option by storing my camera for a year (wanted to have it repaired for a similar lock-up problem, which turned out to not be necessary after all ^_^). You will know the memory was cleared when you have to re-select language and date+time when starting it again.
