M mode on the back of the camera controls focus - aperture priority is for exposure.
Maybe I'm missing something - the distance scale isn't going to be affected by your exposure setting (aperture priority).
If you change from manual to auto focus and you still want the distance to show you will need to go into the custom display settings in the screen setup menu and check the appropriate setting.
As you have the camera why not try it?
By M mode I mean the button at the front of the camera, not the back. (Don't know how it's called in English)
I did the zone focus a few weeks ago, with succes. Now I want to try Aperture Priority. Iso on Auto, SS on Auto, and figure only out Aperture. But when I do Aperture Priority do I still see the (zone focus) distance scale on my menu while shooting)
My English explaining is not the best, haha! Hope you understand it all.
Either way should work - both methods allow you to set aperture.
(I'm assuming when you say M mode you mean the exposure mode M and not the focus mode M).
(I'm also assuming when you say zone focus you mean the technique of setting focus at a specific distance rather then using the AF Mode of Zone).
New to Fuj, and I bought several months ago the XT5. Great camera with awesome options. I'm into document and streetphotography, There's one question, , is it possible to do zone focus when you're camera is in Aperture Priority mode? Or is it only possible in the M mode?
