Fujifilm X-PRO2 rumors

How many generations of the Sony 24 MP sensor have their been? There are clearly at LEAST three primary variants, and maybe more.

This is hard to say, because your definition of a generation is different to the yours.

This sensor (X-Pro2/A6300) is probably around the 5th 24MP sensor.

But for Sony it's a new generation once they improve on the manufacturing process. If Aluminum 180nm is Exmor gen 1, then the move to copper (90nm) is gen 2. I think we didn't see this one on the big sensors, but moved directly to gen 3: 65nm copper. The goal is to reduce the wiring depth, get better fill factor and allow for greater angles of incidence.

The next generations/idea would be, to increase dynamic range and saturation (as well as sensitivity) by increasing the pixel full well capacity. Since most of this is happening in the >800nm wavelength region, it gets the shortcut NIR, for near infrared. How much real life impact this would/could make, I can't tell

Next gen is BSI. and then combine BSI with NIR and/or going into 3D - stacked Sensors.

I think you can look those things up too somewhere.

Is there any truth to supposing news that Fujifilm X-Pro2 Release Date Delayed Until March, 2016 due to higher than expected volume of pre-orders ?

Highly possible. I actually gave myself till june 2016 before I get my pre-order delivered. That way, I don't get stressed out. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with 1st batches.

we will never know unless you are an insider, but, suppose there is a firmware based problem, and the camera needs a few more days to be ready, the best way to justify its delay is to say that since there were SO MANY pre orders they will delay the release of the camera.

Cameras will be delivered on a first come first served base and if there were too little cameras there would have been a first wave followed by a second one. Saying that the delay is caused by wanting to provide the cameras to all the pre orders at the same time, sounds, to me , a little bit of an excuse.

    • Have you found a solution yet? I'm also facing the same situation as you
    • Is there a way to keep your menu selection on the last option you used? For example.  When I select MENU the cursor defaults to MY Menu.  I scroll up to IQ settings, make a change, and return to shooting. When I press the MENU button again the cursor is back to MY Menu.  I really want it to stay on the IQ setting I was last using (or any other Menu setting). It's a PITA to keep scrolling up and down, back to the previous setting.  (Note.  My Canon Menu retains the position of the last option I was using). Thanks in advance for any help.

    • Im not partal to any brad, just opted to try these based on apparent price / performance.  I'm always looking for best bang per buck, hence Fuji I guess - haha Reliabilty does not concern me, as I always shoot to two cards for pro work (and burst shooting is not a part of that). Made sense for me to get the cheapest / fastest CF cards for hobby shooting.     I just got a Sabrent Rocket V60 512GB cheep (as the back-up card).   As long as neither of these freeze the camera I hope its a cheep solution for my needs. (AB AV Pro SE 512Gb and Sabrent Rocket V60 512GB).  Half a gig of redunat storge for $200USD is something I can live with. (Especially considering I can bust the hell out of the Anglebird). Cheers, Tomek
    • Would using an external charger be of benefit to the batteries life? I appreace it can be faster, but I doin't mind pluging in the camera over USB to charge. Does charging via the camera do as good a job as lets say the fuji's own external charger? Does the camera stop charging once the battry is full and not over charge? I couldn't find these deatails in these forums or in the manual. Thank you!   Image below shot on X-T2 in a sunny studio.
