How about film type - how would you handle that ?
-
Ha .... good one even for a Vulcan.

You are talking about the two X PRO 2 versions rumor I assume. One APS-C version and one APS-X version. It's from a new source and unknown if source is reliable. It would be interesting if it turns out to be true. I think I would go for the APS-X model if tests & reviews come out positive.

The idea of that happening has been going through my "wishfull" mind. Wouldn't it be grand if it were so.
-
Really now. How very condescending and dismissive.

There is the element of "at what cost" to incorporate video in a camera. Does it make the camera MORE expensive by adding video capability ? Does it compromise or weaken the capabilities of the other featuresd of the camera in order to suppport video ? Nothing is for free. The more things a "box" does, the more things can break.

I have to wonder, what lens lineup would people use for 4K video if in fact it were available.

OMG - poor rice bag

NICE ! I'm liking it ....

Imagine that - the old style ISO wheel reinvented. These purist old style camera features still useable ...

Hmmm ... interesting. Here we have a very desired camera in the FUJI X PRO 1 and people want to change it. It makes me wonder why the PRO 1 was so desireable in the first place. There are plenty of cameras in the market to choose from that have articulated screens. There is no need to come and screw up the one camera that appeals to to those of us that don't want a "transformer like" camera.

The durability reasoning by danwells makes a lot of sense. An external panel/tilt screen similar to what is offered as external viewfinders also makes sense.
-
Agreed - it will not make one a better photographer, but much faster and more accurate focus would be great to have along with all the other improvements. You can rationalize all you want with respect to not improving your skills, but there are many improvements that can make photography more enjoyable.

Grumpy indeed. Tsk tsk tsk .... No word yet on the E-3 as to if it will or will not have a tilt screen. So don't give up hope yet Herr Heger.

An upgrade to an X PRO 2 may not make sense for everybody. For me it does since I currently own an E-1 and an X100. I also have been collecting a few prime lenses. I certainly hope the viewfinder in the PRO 2 is as large as in the X T-1 in addidition to other refinements mentioned in rumors. If the viewfinder isn't as good, I may have to consider an X T-2.

X-pro2 launch, keep or sell your x-pro1?
ShutterNot replied to drb's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I hope to score a brand new PRO 1 dirt cheap between now and spring next year. After that I will read up on reviews on the PRO 2 to see if improvements warrant buying that. We novice photographers don't expect our images to improve because we buy a new camera, but we also appreciate such things as a faster focus, great dynamic range. longer battery life and so on. We aren't a snobbish lot. -
I guess I was defining a luxury as being something you can obtain without having to make sacrifices somewhere else. One often forgets there are many that don't even have enough to meet the bare necessities of life to survive. I suppose in that sense, anything beyond that is a luxury. On the other hand, food for the soul is also important.

The FUJI cameras are unique, look quite sexy, and they actually work quite well. Could be that Harrod's is just catering to more sophisticated, but not necessarily well to do clients. Wonder if they sell Leica, Nikon or any Canon ? As to needing to use a camera. Who really needs to use a camera other than professional photographers. Of course that eliminates hobbyist, family snap shooters etc. whoe don't really NEED to use a camera but do for personal reasons. Me personally - I'm retired and live on a fixed income. I am trying to get the cash for the PRO 2 together. I don't need the PRO 2, but if it delivers the goods, I will want it because photography is one of my hobbies. Capturing the beauty of life and nature the way I see it. It would be nice to have OVF/EVF, faster focus and greater dynamic range than my E-1. In addition to photography, I enjoy music such as blues, certain bluegrass, country, folk, and a smattering of classical. For the music I use a a stereo system. Now I didn't realize that a hi-fi is a luxury. Didn't use to be. Of course I don't own a smart phone - can't afford the damn thing. Now there is a Luxury if ever there was one. A plain cell phone works fine - thank you. I gotta say, I didn't know I was such an odd duck living in luxury because I enjoy the beauty of sound via music through REAL speakers.

I don't know about anybody else out there, but there is no such thing as an $1800 impulse purchase for me. I have to plan for that kind of purchase and save my money. I'm assuming the PRO 2 will sell for around that price.
-
Do you think this "rebirth" was planned by FUJI, or, that FUJI took the opportuniyu to build on the success of the X100 to produce a new product line ?
-
Patttern indicates either a January or September announcement ? So early 2016 could turn into late 2016 ? I personally have faith in Fuji. I'd rather have them do it right than rush it. I'm ready for an upgrade. My X100 and E-1 still deliver. I have been wanting the PRO 1 for the viewfinder, but can wait what the PRO 2 will give is.
-
Hmmmm - first it was 2015 ( was it in early 2015 ?) - then late 2015 - then early 2016 - now not in Jan 2016 but later. Feel like someone is hanging a carrot in front of you ?
-
WOW - imaginitive. Almost as good as FUJI being sold to Sony.

Another thought on the X-Pro 2
ShutterNot replied to benjaminthomson's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
While you were wondering I was wondering if FUJI would find a way to fix the OVF issue. I wonder if there is a way to incorporate some of the DSLR technology without creating that hump. Some sort of miniaturized through the lens Reflex system. Some FUJI magic Pretty far fetched I suppose.
