Yeah, the X-T30 doesn't currently support tethering, unfortunately - unlike the X-T20 which I believe does. I live in (probably vain) hope that they enable it in a future update....

It's ok. I have the X-T30 mounted on a microscope and just wanted to tether. Instead I've gone back to using the hdmi output.
    Thanks

... but locally it is pretty much finished. Orion, The Seven Sisters(*) and the other winter constellations are packing up and moving out. The snow melted into river floods and birds are headed north again.

(*) The Seven Sisters are also known as the Pleiades and go by many other names. The automaker Subaru uses the Pleiades as their icon on the cars they build.

Using the X-T30 as a web-cam is fairly new, the firmware update to enable this is fairly new, so  there has not been a lot of posted feedback. Give it a try and see (and let us know!)

I did a quick test with the Camera Remote app. It takes about 9s (my guestimate time) to transfer a full-size jpg (6240x4160, 10.24MB) from the camera to the phone so probably the same as the PC Autosave. That agrees with an online calculator ( File Transfer Time Calculator - Techinternets ) if you put in 10.24MB and 11Mbps - it returns 'at least 8s'. So the camera wifi does appear to be running the 802.11b spec. I think I can live with that, but I'll look further into any usb possibilities Tomorrow I'll try the camera out on my rail microscope again. I've set it to use the electronic shutter - ES as I was getting blurred images without the ES when I tried it last week . Hope the blurring problem is sorted now.

Yeah, I have a dumb adapter for the Canon lens but the smarter automatic versions are quite expensive...
    Thanks though

I am glad to hear things are working. Yup, even fast wifi is still slow for moving the large images, the newest latest, greatest version of wifi will eventually make its way into reasonably priced gear so that we can use it.  I would dread trying to move the big GFX files from the camera to the computer using b/g/n even ac/ad wifi versions. Did you try using the cable?
    p.s. Please post more images!

Well, the PC Autosave / wifi seems to work ok now . It is a little slow but ok for jpegs. The only thing is that it switches the camera off after transferring the picture files. A bit annoying, but I suppose that's how it disconnects the wifi.
Here's a couple of pics I took earlier and through my kitchen window (and it's a dull, cloudy day, unfortunately). The first is the university spire (apologies for window frame shadow on the left!). I used to have a good view of the uni building until someone built a private accommodation block in the way  The other is the uni library building on the horizon - the building in the mid-foreground is a school.  Taken manually (at about 200mm) with my cheap Canon 75-300mm zoom

I hope you will get some nice Fuji lens eventually. You can see in my footer what I have, I put it there so that others know what items I might be able to give some advice about. I had Canon before but I really love Fuji.

Hi Louise living in Scotland here. I'm a little old lady having (wi-fi) issues with my recently purchased X-T30 - hoping someone on here can help me with them!
I setup the camera remote app on my Samsung A40 and that appeared to work fine via wifi initially. A few weeks later I installed the PC Autosave app but had trouble getting it to talk to my router. I did manage to get a connection once but (stupid me!) my PC wasn't on so it couldn't make the connection. Ever since then I've been unable to get a wifi connection to/from the camera. My PC sees the camera as a device for a short while but no connection is made. I then found my Camera Remote app wasn't working either and have been tearing my hair out trying to get anything working via WiFi. My phone and laptop both still work fine via my router. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Camera Remote app but to no avail. It doesn't seem to want to be setup from scratch as it was initially but I can't see what else to do on the phone to do a proper fresh installation? Any ideas on that? I've tried the 'Reset Wireless Setting' on the camera but it doesn't seem to do anything useful. Obviously I've power cycled the camera, the phone and the router but to no avail. I have a feeling I'm missing something obvious but don't know what it is! I'd have thought if there was a problem with the router settings then my laptop and phone would have problems but they are fine. I tried resetting network settings on the phone but that didn't help. As yet, I've not tried connecting via Bluetooth since I don't want to use it. My router is in my living room so no problems with signal strength or anything like that. The X-T30 flashes it's wifi icon but won't do anything else with it! I have all the location settings and permissions set on the phone. Something seems to have gone amiss when I unsuccessfully tried installing the PC Autosave app... Any help gratefully received!
    Thanks
    Louise

Well, mainly for photomicrography - perhaps more art than real science. That doesn't mean I won't take it outside... However, I don't have any Fuji lenses for it - just a cheap Canon zoom plus dumb adapter.

    Hiya
I've tried with firewall disabled but it makes no difference. When I connect to the router now it all seems to go smoothly and I can see the camera's MAC address in the router. I connect to the router in 'manual' mode just by selecting my network so not entered the router password. Maybe I'll try again with the alternate manual method and by entering the ssid and the password - you never know, might make all the difference! I hate software that doesn't tell you what it's doing! But with a camera, dialogue has to be limited, I suppose. I wish, though, that the 'instructions' suggested more than 'make sure your PC is on' and 'make sure the PC Autosave app is running'!
    Thanks
    Louise

It's often having the discussion that helps! My research at Glasgow Uni involved genetics in that I was looking at an inherited disease called Rett Syndrome but using mice, microscopes and electrophysiology. My supervisor moved to Edinburgh Uni a few years ago and we had strong ties with them anyway. I first went to Uni when I was 38 (I think). I still enjoy studying and learning new things.

I really am! Though I admit to being a bit 'nerdy' - I have a computer science degree from way back in the 90's  Plus a bioscience degree from 2009 and a postgraduate research masters in neuroscience from 2013  I've been retired now for the last 8 years...
Anyway, the PC Autosave connections are all good now - fingers crossed!
You and Jerry have been a great help - thanks!

Yes that is right, Glasgow Uni, but not the Barony Hall, it is in the Gilbert Scott Building I think. Good luck with the file transfers ! Let us know how you fared, please.

Louise, "little old lady" you say ? With MAC filtering on her network ? You're dangerous. I use it on my Ubiquity APs and Mikrotik Routers, but it did not occur to me to consider that. Jerry may be right, a firewall setting on your PC could be blocking the connection of the PC_Autosave. Could be in a security/antivirus sw that you have or in the Windows OS. Maybe a message popped up to ask for permission that you missed. I suspect you know this without me telling you and you will know how to add a rule. I agree with Jerry on the WPS thing, I never use it.
