zenmartini reacted to Pathpix in Advanced Filter disaster – don't let it happen to you
I was delighted to see the that latest Firmware (V3) has addressed this issue by allowing RAW shooting when in Advanced Filters. Anything shot by accident in Advanced Filter mode ( as above !) would  now be recoverable provided Image Quality is set up for RAW & Jpeg.  What happened to some of us need not happen to anyone else again.
THANK YOU for making this amendment  FUJIFILM !

    zenmartini got a reaction from johant in X-pro 2 - I don't get it!
If I need to shoot video for any professional use, I rent a video camera. The people who "get" the XPRO-2 probably don't really care that much about video anyway.
Having been making images for a long long time and having had many film and digital cameras, and broadcast video cameras, I can't for the life of me understand the
constant comparison that goes on. I buy a camera and lens(es), I then go out and use it until it dies, if I am getting the images I want. I don't really think
about the next big thing until it's time to go shopping for a camera again. It's a tool not a jewel.

zenmartini reacted to abonhamc in Another X-Pro2 Viewfinder Complaint
I went to an outdoor local carshow yesterday morning with the X-Pro2 and I had significant trouble seeing the viewfinder when under direct sun. I am right-eye dominant and do not wear glasses, but like the other gentleman who fashioned his own eyecup, I also feel like I just can't always get my eye close enough to block out stray light. I did find that the EVF was brighter and more easy to use than OVF, because the EVF guidlines and information readout is significantly brighter than the OVF. Fine, but still, I am a little surprised that I've only read a couple of similar complaints. What's a good way to counter this when shade is not available? Do you guys fiddle with the EVF brightness settings? I'm worried that changing that would throw off my interpretations of available light. I don't think i need anything exotic from Fuji, maybe just a finder cup that is the same exact shape and size, but slightly deeper. I am tempted to make my own from Sugru or a Nikon cup, but seeing that I'd have to send my camera to have them to replace the finder cup if I ruin mine, I'm not eager to jump into a DIY project. I figured that by telling you guys about this issue would help raise awareness to Fuji that some alternative options would be appreciated. Thoughts?

zenmartini got a reaction from FujinonRoyale in XPro 2 10 Days with issues
I've had my Xpro 2 for about 10 days and it has me a bit worried. I've had Fuji gear going back to the X100 and I am familiar with how things are supposed to go
and I also know when buying a new product, there are going to be growing pains... however.

Updated to new Firmware when the camera arrived and I am still getting 1-2 resets a day.

For some inexplicable reason, Lightroom which had no issue downloading images from the camera now refuses to do so. The system sees the camera and I am
able to cut and paste the images onto my hard drive but LR has crapped on me. I rolled back, I re-installed and I can't figure it out. Suggestions appreciated.

As far as the reset issue goes...it's driving me crazy and a trip to Edison will be in order. I use this camera everyday since I got it for work and LR had no problem until today.

Thanks for any advice and reading my vent.

zenmartini reacted to Trenton Talbot in XT-1 sensor and dust
There's an easy way to test if your sensor needs cleaning.

Set ISO to 200. Stop down your lens to the maximum (f/16 or f/22 if available). Set shutter speed to auto. Switch to manual focus and rotate focusing ring to the closest distance. Take a handheld shot of some more or less uniform surface in a relatively dimly lit room; exposure should be couple of seconds. Slightly wave and rotate the camera during exposure – there should be nothing in focus (see #4) and nothing steady. Open the shot in camera, zoom in to the max and inspect the result navigating your zoomed in shot with D-pad buttons. All sharp or semi-sharp objects you see are various artifacts on the sensor (dust, lint, maybe even – God forbid – scratches…). You can get rid of most dust specks with the blower. However, some artifacts (such as dried out water drops) require wet cleaning. If you don't know how to do it yourself, you should learn

PS: I have an X-T1 since the day it hit retail shelves… and I change lenses at least 100x every day. So far, no need for a wet cleaning.
