  6. A NYC street shooter my whole life now using X-Pro2 and the X-H1. My first thought after I put the grip on was "Finally, a defensive weapon." The thing has some heft as does the X-Pro2 and I like that. Actually, in close to 40 years of riding the subway and roaming the streets, I have never felt that either myself or my gear was in jeopardy. It is a thought which occurs, however. . I like the video capabilities because often I find myself involved with a subject who has an interesting story or is a real character. It is not my primary focus but I like to play around. And it looks wonderful. Really quite nice. Having had most every FUJI camera since the X100, I think that the X-H1 is a refinement PLUS. Every 2 years I replace 1 body. I always say "It's a tool, not a jewel." but I am finding the X-H1 to be a little jewel-like... or maybe because it's new, I don't know.. it hasn't disappointed me yet.
  7. I've had my XPRO2 more than 2 years and last week the eyecup disappeared while doing some street work in the city. I found a replacement (3rd party JCC I think) and for $18 on Ebay I got 2. I sprayed a little 3M Super 77 adhesive on the back of the ring and it is now holding fast. The 77 is good because you can still remove the eyecup with a little bit of force. Losing the eyecup does not compromise the weather seal.
  8. I've only had the issue with the XPro2 early on while using generic cards. I've never had an issue with premium cards that I know are not counterfeit. Nobody likes surprises so I would rather do the due diligence.
  9. I just had my EVF replaced (under warranty) due to a line of red pixels showing up under some lighting conditions. Images were fine. Send it in for repair, poop does happen.
  10. The NTSB would call this Pilot Error with contributing factor.
  11. I've had an issue since day 1 of the XPro2 freezing up after importing images into LR. When the transfer is done, if I don't unplug the USB within 5 minutes, the camera will freeze and I have to drop the battery out. I dropped it at FUJI Edison for the 3rd time and they gave me another camera.Best service I've had since Marty Forscher.
  12. If I need to shoot video for any professional use, I rent a video camera. The people who "get" the XPRO-2 probably don't really care that much about video anyway. Having been making images for a long long time and having had many film and digital cameras, and broadcast video cameras, I can't for the life of me understand the constant comparison that goes on. I buy a camera and lens(es), I then go out and use it until it dies, if I am getting the images I want. I don't really think about the next big thing until it's time to go shopping for a camera again. It's a tool not a jewel.
  13. I'm so glad you wrote this and I have found it useful. But the thing I am really pleased about is the link to Adam Bonn's website. That is a labor of love and a great resource. Thank you.
  14. I live about 25 miles from Fuji in Edison NJ. I use my gear for work (and play) and I don't like a consumer experience when I need help. I have found that Fuji repair in Edison goes out of their way to make life easier when I do have a problem. Do a little research and find out the right person to hit up with an email. You just might get them to send the eyepiece to you. Especially if you work with your camera. My XT1 grip had the rubber material sliding off. I was using it a lot this summer and I guess the heat and sweat caused it to start peeling away from the body. After a while it was a real pain in the butt so I dropped it at Fuji. I wasn't in a rush and so waited for the estimate to be mailed to me. How much could it cost to put some glue on the camera body? When I got the 149.00 estimate I drove back down to Fuji and asked to speak with a supervisor. I got the guy in charge of the repair department. I explained that I didn't mind paying for the work but 149.00 I thought was a bit excessive. The guy knew what gear I owned before he came out to talk to me, and we had a nice discussion about the X cameras. He then said he would do the repair free and throw in a cleaning and calibration. I thought that was very gracious and probably a good business decision based on how much Fuji gear I own. Good luck with the eyepiece, I'm sure I'm right behind you with that thing.
  15. I had the same issue and it was driving me crazy. Fuji replaced the capacitor and that solved the problem. I still have an issue when I leave the camera turned on and attached to the computer for transfer into Lightroom. If I don't disconnect quickly after the last image is transferred, the camera will lock up. Then the only way to shut it off is to drop the battery out. All in all, I love the camera. It is what it is.
  16. I got my 2 back last week and it has been trouble free since the battery/capacitor was replaced. I sent an email to "Professional" services and a great guy by the name of Steve S. Personally oversaw the diagnoses and repair. Two days and I had it back.
  17. When I took my 2 in for repair I pointed at the missing sync cap and smiled and asked if they might have one laying around. They did. Didn't cost me a cent. They also fixed my 2.
  18. I sent an email to FUJI about the failed repair and got one back telling me to call the Pro camera number in Edison. Spoke with Steve S. who listened to my story and he said before they do anything, I should video the camera when it happens again. Because, the camera checked out when it was in the shop the first time. I got off the phone and removed the FUJI battery and put a freshly charged FUJI battery in and it reset immediately. I had the video rolling from the start of the process and put that in an email to Steve S. The next day we spoke on the phone and he said he would pay the Fed Ex charge to bring it back to Edison. I said no bother as I would drive it. Two days later I had my camera back and have no problems with freezes or resets whatsoever. Seems that the internal battery/capacitor needed replacing. I'm learning to love it again. Now if I could just get my Domke bag back from Tiffen. One of the dividers had lost some stitching and I just wanted a replacement for it as the bag was just fine. Nope, got to send the whole thing back. They are sending me a brand new bag. They wouldn't send it until they received the old one back. That's not great service as what am I supposed to do with all the unnecessary crap I keep in the bag? 10 days and still waiting. But my X Pro 2 is working fine so woohoo.
  19. Well misery loves company I guess. I brought mine in for service and I have the feeling that nothing at all was done.I just wrote this for another forum,,, it pretty much sums up my rising disappointment leve 60 Days ago today, I purchased an XPro2 from B&H along with the 10-24mm zoom. I do real estate photography and I was looking forward to that new piece of glass making my life a little easier. I've had the X series right from the start: The X100, XE1, XE2, XT1 and now the XPro2 and I still own them all. Coming from film, it felt like the most natural progression for me. I like the fact that FUJI honors it's customers by continuing with firmware updates and support. I had read about the XPro2 reset issue but I also knew that it would be addressed fairly rapidly and so didn't hesitate to make the purchase. A firmware release was made and it looked as if it took care of the issue as it had started happening everyday with mine. Several weeks went by. During that time, my camera would freeze occasionally or if I neglected to remove the USB cable after a transfer fairly quickly, that too would precipitate a freeze.Unfortunately the freezing and resetting issue continued on and left me feeling disappointed with FUJI. Last Thursday I drove to FUJI in Edison New Jersey and left it for warranty service. After 4 business days I got a phone call asking me to return and pick up my camera. Before I went to get it, I wrote a short email to B&H Customer Service where I had purchased it from, explaining what had been going on. I informed them that I knew it was past the 30 day return and I did not expect them to take the camera back. I was hoping for some "consideration" if and when I decided to sell the camera or if I decided to order the XT2. The response I got back was wonderful. I was told that even though it would be 60 days, based on the amount of gear I have purchased with them, they would extend a one time courtesy and accept the camera back. I thought about it but decided against giving up on the XPro2 just yet. I would wait until I had received back the XPro 2 and had a chance to see what Fuji would do. I just really love the form factor of that camera and the images it helps me make. I picked up the body yesterday and when I could see no notes as to what had been done, I asked to speak with the tech. Unfortunately, due to a language issue, I was unable to understand what the tech had done. I was told repeatedly that "it's fixed, it's fixed and if I still had a problem, I could bring it back. I left Edison feeling somewhat frustrated. On the way back to my place, I stopped to make some images of a house for my work. No sooner had I put in a fresh battery, then the camera froze. Fortunately I had my XT1 with me and was able to complete the assignment. Later on after cycling though another battery, the XPro 2 reset itself again. I've looked online for others having this recurring issue and haven't found anything. Now I am at a loss to decide what to do. I'm sure if I make a big enough stink FUJI will replace it but, how am I to feel about this piece of gear or the service it received? Thank you for letting me vent even if you don't run this. I just wanted to write it down and hope that maybe someone else out there is becoming as frustrated as I am and has had a favorable outcome.
  20. After living with the XT-1 EVF and loving it, I have been quite dissapointed with the EVF on the Pro-2. The AUTO setting is a joke and I find myself constantly adjusting the viewfinder brightness. It tends towards the blue side also. I sure do hope a fix is coming. I am going to try the suggestions of the OP. No sir you are not alone. I have also found that making a little "cave" with my left hand over the viewfinder works pretty well for improving it's visibility in bright sun. I've been using the camera for 5 weeks now professionally and it hasn't let me down. It has acted like a mid 70's British motorcar by being flaky at times, but regardless the images are beautiful.
  21. 2 Weeks with the Xpro 2 which helps to make some beautiful images. However: Even with new firmware I can count on it resetting at least once per day. The EVF behaves inconsistently in terms of color and brightness even disabling the auto feature. Until 2 days ago, Lightroom could "see" files on the sd cards in the camera and import them. Then it just stopped working. I was able to repeat it in LR on my laptop too. This morning and while using the camera for work, I kept getting card read errors though it had been happy with the same cards for the first 8 days. I like to look at my image for 1.5 seconds when I'm done with a long exposure. Sometimes it will display that long as the menu indicates it should and sometimes it decides it doesn't like the picture and displays it for a split second. I am not a whiner. I have had Fuji starting with the X100 and I have never had so many things go flakey. I will take it to Edison to see what they can do but I am beginning to feel like I can't trust the camera to work when I need it too.
  22. I've had my Xpro 2 for about 10 days and it has me a bit worried. I've had Fuji gear going back to the X100 and I am familiar with how things are supposed to go and I also know when buying a new product, there are going to be growing pains... however. Updated to new Firmware when the camera arrived and I am still getting 1-2 resets a day. For some inexplicable reason, Lightroom which had no issue downloading images from the camera now refuses to do so. The system sees the camera and I am able to cut and paste the images onto my hard drive but LR has crapped on me. I rolled back, I re-installed and I can't figure it out. Suggestions appreciated. As far as the reset issue goes...it's driving me crazy and a trip to Edison will be in order. I use this camera everyday since I got it for work and LR had no problem until today. Thanks for any advice and reading my vent.
  23. I've had my X-PRO2 just under a week and it has reset about half a dozen times. I have installed the new firmware and I have just let it sit on a fresh battery for 24 hours. I have yet to read of a fix or haven't found one... if anyone can shed some light on what to do next. Fortunately I live about an hour from FUJI in New Jersey... Love the camera but hate the reset.
  24. I ordered my XT1 when it was announced and waited a couple of months... and I'm the guy who says never buy 1.0 of anything. I'm going to see if there is some way to make it stay on with a some form of adhesive. Thanks guys.
