  1. I will be going to Egypt for a few week trip shortly...and as usual am struggling with which lenses to bring. At the moment I'm thinking 18-135, 14, 23 f2, and maybe 56 1.2. I figure the zoom as my main walk around especially if dust is a factor...the 14 for wide shots in and out of tombs/temples...the 23 f2 for walking around cities...and the 56 for some stealthy portraits. What do y'all think?
  2. great pics everyone...I am very impressed!!!! But I already have the 14, 16, 10-24...do I need this????
  3. I got one this past week...but after putting it on...I found it kinda hit my palm in a fashion that kinda hurt. I don't have big hands...it was not for me...I returned it! I think a wrist strab will better suit me if need be!
  4. this lens is sharp! i had to decrease the resolution for it to fit...but zoomed in its razor sharp!
  5. I got one used to add to my "collection" and I really like what I get from it at such a compact size!
  6. i've seen magic with most of my fuji lenses...the 14...the 56...the 90...the 27!
  7. one of my faves with my 35 f1.4...the best pic of my dad before he died! I have some good ones with the f2...but ...
  8. ya, mike, i figured that out...this particular filter was pretty thick! thx!
  9. so I tried to put my b+w filter on my 16mm...and then my lens hood(the "fancy" dancy lh-xf16)...and it doesnt seem to fit with the filter on. i was under the impression this was not an issue? anyone else have this problem?
  10. I just got mine today...ordered from b and h last week. I just took a few shots this afternoon...so far I like it!!!
  11. again...thx everyone for your advice/opinions. my dilemna has been averted...as my dad ended up in the hospital...and I had to cancel my trip.
  12. thanks guys for the advice. buying fuji lenses has become somewhat of an "addiction!" And while I have traveled with a bunch of these lenses...and have taken lots of shots...FROD is right...re the overlap and that I need to practice more! I saw that video...I love the vids/photos he took with the remote!!!! Sadly...I may be cancelling my trip as my dad took an unexpected turn for the worst and is now in the hospital.
  13. I shot my 35/2 this morning at the state fair...and had mixed results. While shooting I was wondering what I'd have gotten with my 35 1.4 which has given me some of my absolute best shots ever!!!!
  14. Sorry I cant just take the 18-135 and enjoy my vacation!!!!!! I'm not that kind of guy!!!!!! To complicate things these are the lenses I own:14, 10-24, 23, 27, 35 1.4/2, 56, 90, 18-135, 55-200. I picked up a 16 last week but was not happy with my initial results so I returned it...I'm kinda regretting it!!! I spent the morning at the MN state fair shooting with my 35/2 and my results were mixed. 35/2 or 35 1.4? Additionally I will be in marakech, fez, atlas mountains , desert and the blue city.
  15. oh and I meant to ask which flash u use...I haven't really used a flash much with my xt1...as the one it came with kinda stinks!
  16. Thanks for the advice so far...I don't have the 16-55 because it is too big...atleast for now! That scoop article is helpful...for saving battery life...but is of no help in selecting lenses!!!!! While I like the prime only idea...I don't think I'd be content with just the 35/2 and the 23mm...I'd want to add the 14/and either 56/90 as well!!!! I like the idea of the 18-135/35/2 because of the weather resistance and the zoom for most days and the prime for night...and if I go this route I will also take the 14 as id like to play with astro in the desert...and I think I'll need wide.
  17. After shooting for a few days...I returned the 16mm...not sure if I got a bad lens? I havent heard any instances of that but I was just not happy at all with the results I got. The 35/2 on the other hand is sweet. But...I love love love the 35 1.4...some of my favorite pics came from this lens...so I'm struggling with this!!!!
  18. I've been toiling over which lenses I should bring on my upcoming trip to morocco. I've watched countless videos and read every online article. Dust is an issue...most people dont want to be photographed...wide streets. I'm thinking 18-55 or 18-135...14mm...and either the 23 1.4 or 35/2. Or should I consider 55-200 to try to take "spy" shots at a distance? Thoughts? Advice? Opinions?
