Since you like detail shots a close focusing short telephoto lens is what you need. Consider 50 f/2 or 60 f/2.4 macro. For general wide angle architecture the 14 f/2.8 is king.

b+w filter
Filter is necessary to make camera/lens totally weather resistant and Vello lens hood allows for filter as well as quick release hood. I find the combo perfect and adds to the cameras overall 'Leica-like' appearance.

This sounds horrible. It may not be the time to upgrade to this camera. I read Fuji rushed to release this camera early to have it available for the Olympics.

Thanks Herco for your personal insights. DP review was the reviewers stating resolution being slightly lower wide open, but higher contrast and corner sharpness, by design. I usually shoot street and candids with my 100T, but also nature and structures quite often close. The softness and haze really irritates me. When I've seen photos and medium distances the 100V looks fantastic, but when I saw minimum focus distance wide open I was a bit disappointed.

I've been shooting w/ x100T for 4 years and the new 'V' version looks like a nice upgrade.
My main issue w/ 'T' is at close focus wide open it's horribly soft. I've read an extensive lens review of 'V', which concluded the new 'V' has less resolution, but higher contrast with no haze, so it has a perceived sharper look up close wide open. I saw a photo from an owner on the other Fuji forum in this situation and I wasn't all that impressed. What do owners of x100V here say about the new lens?

The lack of weather resistance and the same 6 year old lens, will make me skip this generation of the x100 series. I keep my x100t a little longer for the next generation or possibly an upcoming xe3.

Another reason I left Sony is there lack of firmware updates. And when they release the a7iii you can forget about any updates. For example they haven't had any updates for the a7 but only for the a7ii. Fuji is well known for there great support and firmware updates
Except on the 3 year old X-100T. No updates, but they have offered updates on newer cameras.

I'd prefer the x-pro2 because I'm a left eye shooter, plus I have a x100t I'd keep as my compact camera.

2 months ago I bought the x100t and at $1100 it a steal. I wanted to start shooting now and didn't want to wait on the new x200 which will surely cost more too, and may have a wider lens than the x100t.
When all the new Fuji cameras are out and firmware tweaks attended to, I may consider an upgrade, but it's not a priority. I would still hang on to the x100t for size and form factor. Sure, it would be nice to have the upgraded sensor and processor, but it won't make me a better photographer. Many photogs still using the original x100 with no plans to upgrade. The masters of the past shot great photos w/ lesser equipment. I'd buy the x100t. My2¢

Thanks. After using the camera for a month and a half, I've had to clean the lens from moisture spots and dust many times, and I'm very careful. I think I like the idea of added protection. It's worth a try to see if I have any image quality issues w/ glare and flare from lights w/ night photography.

Having had a x100t for 1-1/2 months I've noticed that the lens is sharpest at the midrange distances making it a great street/candid lens. I find it a bit softer in macro and at infinity for nature.

The face detection icon only shows in EVF, but not the OVF or hybrid OVF viewfinder w/ EVF overlay in corner. I did more research elsewhere and found face detection only works while in the EVF mode.

I have a 1 month old x100t and have been shooting raw/jpeg, but have only been using the jpegs and editing them in PS4 which I have. I downloaded Silkypix 4.1 from the Fuji website but can figure how to open the basic-edited files in Photoshop once I converted the raw file in Silkypix. I figured how to move the file but still can't view them in PS. I'm quite confused.

I'm perplexed with my x100t.
I notice that the 'Face Detection Focusing' icon only shows up in the EVF but not the OVF. The OVF only displays the 'Focus Area' icon, weather I choose Face Detection or not. If so how am I to know if I've chosen Face Detection or Focusing Area while viewing thru the OVF? And more importantly is Face Detection focusing operational in the OVF mode? -
I think it looks really cool. Maybe a little heavy handed at aging it, but still attractive. Now you can be daring with your photography and just use it as a tool.

Thanks for the responses. I'm concerned about the glare on a flat piece of glass. Do I need to be concerned about the gap between the lens and housing. It seems prone to dust entering or is it sealed, but I don't know for sure.

I've a new x100t w/ lens hood.
The front of the lens looks unprotected from dust entering the gap around the front element so I've decided to put a clear filter on the front to protect it, and I won't need a lens cap either.
Do you recommend a B&W or Hoya clear filter?

If I had your bad experiences as you describe I'd look for a different hobby. LOL
I shot street photography in Chicago in the 80's for years, and while some people didn't want their photos taken, most were obliging. I was even using a Nikon F3 w/ motor drive and a few prime lenses, but mostly a 35mm 1.4 and sometimes an 85 1.4.
I bought black x100t not because of theft reason you mentioned, but shinny silver draws more attention. And I love the 35mm lens. I like the small size that I'd take with me everywhere.

I just ordered a black X100t for a number of reasons. Compactness - I'm likely to carry it with me more frequently. 35mm 2.0 lens - looking over past photos I shoot wide more than telephoto and a fast lens because I frequently shoot in low light. Black color - looks more like an average P&S camera and less likely to draw attention to myself. My 2¢

I am not sure what you mean by the extra stop of the X100...
The 23mm on the X-E2 can be even the 1.4 which would be more light efficient than any X100 has been or would ever be.
Soon , for the X series, there will be a new 23mm probably f2 and much smaller too.
I meant the 23mm lens of the x100t is one stop faster than the 18-55 zoom, but it is actually 1.5 stops faster than the zoom at the same focal length. I like this for low light shooting.
Good point on firmware updates. I'm guessing the XE2 may be at the end of it's run with the 'S'.
Anyway, since the E2s is more versatile I'll probably go that route and look for a faster prime lens later on, plus gain compactness too.
