Slightly off topic: does anyone know whether the EF-X500 does HSS with the X-T1 after the X-T1 v5.00 firnware update? Still looking for a good HSS on camera TTL solution for my trusty X-T1 -there are few.... And what about the Nissins - they seem to have lost the "unofficial" HSS support too with firmware v5??

I haven't seen any reviews/impressions of firmware 5.00 for the X-T1. I have updated, and generally happy about the new flash menus, but overall it was an underwhelming FW update this time around. However, I have several questions while I ponder updating/supplying my EF-42 flash: Does HSS still work with the Nissin i40 ? With/without a Nissin firmware upgrade ? Anything non-flash related improvements included with the upgrade?

You mean the X-T2 settings? Not available on any other camera, I'm afraid

Point 8 is moot for X-T1 users at least, since this has been possible since firmware 4.30

Moiré? I know the few videos I have taken with my X-T1 suffers from extreme moiré and false colors when certain patterns/textures are being filmed. Combination of x-trans and no AA filter - or so they say.

Focus assist was specifically mentioned somewhere so -yes it has focus assist. However, I think it IS the video LED light The way I understand, the AF on Fujifilm cameras won't work with IR alone.

Unfortunately I think it is deliberate because the X-T1 is a flagship camera and the others not.....they need to draw the line somewhere to justify the higher price. Sad but true

Hi everybody! I have a question: In the press release from Fujifilm announcing the EF-X500, the X-T1 is listed as being compatible, but requiring a firmware update. I assume this will be the last update we'll see for this camera, but does anyone know if this will allow HSS and all the remote/multi-flash functionality on the X-T1? I remember when the X-Pro2 was released that it was said that HSS would only work with the X-Pro2 and the X-T2, so I thought it was related to the new shutter mechanism. However, in the press release materials, the X-T1 is given the same "status" as the X-Pro2, namely just "needing a firmware update" for full functionality. The X-Pro1, for instance, is listed as having "some functionality" only, I guess for hardware reasons. So, is it just a matter of adding new menu options or is there a hardware issue that will make the EF-X500 less useful in combination with the X-T1? I can't see this being mentioned on any web site, of course with only a press release being released it's hard to know. Very few of the "beta testers" seems to have been given a flash also, so I guess we will have to wait just to be 100% sure.

I assume this only works if the flash supports HSS on Canon/Nikon ? So the EF-42 or an old manual film-era Nikon flash will NOT work for instance?

The topic says it all, can anyone recommend an SD card reader that is both USB3.0 and uhs-ii compliant ? I have found one from Sandisk but it seems ppl are not too happy with the build quality of it. You buy it for the swirly bokeh though I liked it better on my Canon DSLR, for some reason, not my favorite legacy lens on my X-T1. Those are Minolta 45 mm f2, Fujinon-T 100 mm f2.8 and Chinon 55 f1.7

Re. multiple upgrades from one SD card. It is perfectly possible, since each camera/lens firmware has a UNIQUE name, so it doesn't matter how many you put on the same SD card. As long as you (or your computer!) don't edit the name of the file, you are in the clear. Don't forget, your camera is basically a computer, and it follows computer logic. Did my X-T1, 35/2 and 18-55 like this - smooth as a breeze. I agree that minimizing the risk of bricking your camera is something we should all do, but it is basically very simple. Making sure 1) your battery is fully charged 2) not switching your camera off or removing the SD card during the update That is basically it......no need to cross fingers and go to lengths to avoid "trouble" etc.

Totally agree with the OP! In this day and age you shouldn't have to keep a Post-It handy to remember what C4 was again....I know there is at least space for naming these settings using 4 letters (since "BASE" is used) and the ability of accepting text input so how hard can it be?
