Since the boat is the star of the photo, I would open the shadows on it and maybe darken the sky too.

Compositionally I prefer this one where the man and the wall being watched is less prominent in the picture. However this sort of composition may be an exception in your conceptual approach.

I like the shape of the trees in foreground and the overall composition but would have preferred without people or only one a little further on the road.

You should give «Perfect Photo Suite» from OnOne software a try. It is also a good Photoshop alternative but it costs more than 50$. -
