  2. I have had both and I think the X-T2 was a big step forward in terms of handling. Focus is better and the dials are better. Just about everything is much better. As far as IQ they both are different and have their strengths and weaknesses.

    XF 27mm error

I have the 27mm lens, and I too started to see these 'Turn off and on ..." type of problems. This was after I fitted a 37 to 58 mm filter thread converter plus a 58mm uv filter. The reason for me doing this was no standardise the filter threads on all my lenses. It seems to me from other's contributions that the tiny motor struggles when there is too much excess weight it has to move, and malfunctions. I took the filter/converter off, and it was happy again.

    Choosing a zoom lens

In Fuji, I presently only have primes, by far to date my most used lens has been the 23mm f/2 but if I were to get one it would most certainly be the FUJIFILM XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens (24-84mm, 35mm Equivalent) is a zoom range that would work well for me and the f/2.8 would be nice for low light.
