I had already used an external flash for portraits with my xpro 2 and it worked fine, but I tried yesteday with the xt3 and it was an utter failure.

Essentially, if I understand correctly what is happening, the flash happens too early or too late, and the scene is essentially unlit.

I tried changing the settings in the camera, but to no avail.

I have no idea what's going on, and if anyone more enlightened than me on external lighting can help I'd be immensely grateful.

So  I've experimented around to try and figure out what's going on, and it's definitely a sync issue.

I set up the XT3 hotshoe miniflash to trigger the external flash, and everything works fine (except for the front light which kind of messes up my lighting setup.)

So if anyone has tips on syncing with the XT3, please share.

How are you triggering the external flash when you’re not using the mini flash to trigger it optically? I use multiple Godox flashes with the Godox Pro controller in the hot shoe and don’t have any sync issues — the Godox components I’m using are all the F versions that are Fuji compatible. If the mini flash is triggering correctly my guess is that the analog PC terminal on the front of the camera would also work correctly. My guess is that you’re using some other third party trigger in the hot shoe on top of the camera.
