Trying to update the firmware on my camera, and can't use the sd card method, as my computer has no card reader. I have to use the older Camera Remote app, due to my current firmware, but although the app finds my camera after proceeding in the 'pairing registration' section (detected the camera below), when I tap to connect it comes up with a 'pairing failed' message. It says 'reduced connectivity, place camera and smartphone closer together'. They are literally touching each other! I have tried everything - resetting the network, reconnecting both the camera and phone to the wifi, turning bluetooth on and off again, etc. As I say, my phone finds the camera straight away, but just can't connect. So now I am stuck in a vicious circle of not being able to update the firmware, nor update to the new Fujifilm X App. Has anyone any ideas?

Does your computer have a free usb port?

If so, you should be able to use an external card reader (either type a or type c connector — the same as your computer’s port) plugged into the computer to put the firmware update on the camera's card and then upgrade the camera.

These readers are fairly easy to find, even big box stores carry them for a variety of budgets. Or, you can find them online as well.

p.s. Welcome to the forum.

Hi. Thanks for the responses so far. I did see that you can buy an external card reader, and they start at quite a reasonable price! That said, I was trying to avoid buying something in order to complete what I would have thought should be such a simple job, particularly as I am not sure I will have any further use for the card reader once the firmware is updated, particularly if I can then use the new XApp with my camera! That said, if all else fails...
