Rear Command Dial > Autofocus On

Ie; I use the AE-L / AF-L as AF>On, with the shutter AF off.

Like a lot of folks do...

But the two back buttons are far too small...

I have this big rear command dial right under my thumb...nice and fat...unused.

If only pressing on that BIG FAT DIAL would initiate AF!

If Fuji were to make the minimum shutter speed lens dependent, can they gives us the option of choosing

the multiplication factor over the lens focal length.

Fixing it at the old fashioned way of 1 x focal length just does not work these days.

I always try to shoot hand held at 4 x focal length as certaing pros advocate and it works

Add this:

When pressing "Back Button Focus" from SLEEP mode wake the camera up!

I find I miss shots because I raise the camera and simultaneously initiate AF from a back button.

But if the camera is asleep BB AF doesn't wake the camera, I need to first press, often fully depress the shutter, to make sure it's listening to positively wake up the camera, then the BF button to  initiate AF, then back to the shutter button again to expose.

That's the difference in getting the shot and not....

I shoot from muscle memory, two step muscle memory, FOCUS>SHOOT

Not:

WAKE UP SHUTTER WITH SHUTTER PRESS>FOCUS>SHUTTER PRESS AGAIN

I got so frustrated last night I was forced to constantly full press the shutter to wake up the camera, thus getting a two or three unfocused shot of the sidewalk, as I brought the camera up, then released the full press so I could start AF, then going back to the shutter for the exposure.

The way it should be is:

As I raise the sleeping camera to my eye I'm pressing BB AF waking the camera and starting AF, and placing my finger on the shutter at the same time and getting off my shot.

The "sleep" stuff, in a fast paced environment,  is a sure way to miss a shot.

Hi Peter,

If you set the power management option to OFF, this should stop the camera from sleeping

but could make battery life even worse.

I set my evf and lcd to be off until I look thro the eyepiece, saves battery life.

Hope this helps

Thanks Michael...that is what I have decided to do....power management to off....manually switching the camera to off when it's "down time" to save battery  and flipping it back on when I'm in a location shooting.

I never had much luck with EVF set to auto on when looking into eyepiece...too much lag.
