XT 30 USB Cable Melted

I left my XT 30 plugged in to charge the battery overnight.

In the morning i discovered the cable had fused itself to the camera usb port..

There was a clear silicon like glob surrounding the camera usb port and the cable was fused to the port.

I could not pull the cable free of the port, and had to use a small chisel to carefully pry the cable free of the glob.

It came away cleanly and there appears to be no damage to the camera, and it is recharging with a different cable.

Does anybody have any idea what might have caused this?

Hi!

Was the cable the one that came with the camera?

It could be a faulty cable case. I also have an XT-30 and bought an external charger. I think it's safer.
