In my copy of lightroom 6.6.1,In my lens profile box  at the bottom of the lens profile box it says

Unable to locate a matching profile automatically.

This is using Raw files. Is this correct or am i doing something wrong . I am using a XT-2 and tried different fuji lens.

And each time it the same

Fuji profiles are incorporated in the raw file itself, you don't have to switch lens corrections on.

If you un-check "Activate lens correction" (or whatever is called in English, my copy of LR is in Italian) you'll see that in the same position where the error message you're experiencing is appearing you'll see instead something along the lines of "Lens profile applied automatically".

Though I'd say it's mostly Fuji's fault; this way of implementing the profiles is quite confusing at first, and besides unnecessarily complex IMO...

I do not fully agree with that. Including lens profiles in the raw files ensures that they are available even for new lenses. It also gives the ability to include an individual profile for each lens if the profiles are stored in the lens firmware. I have no idea if Fuji does this or if all lenses of one type use the same profile.

What I really would like, is an option in Lightroom to ignore the included lens profile.

Now that I think of it this way, effectively is not Fuji fault but more a clunky implementation by Adobe.

And I completely agree that there should be an option to ignore the profile! Besides the loss of detail due the distortion correction, sometime the distortion itself it's actually aesthetically a plus for some particular image.

Apple have only just got around to including the X-Pro2 into ACR, so we probably have quite a wait for Apple to acknowledge the X-T2!

Adobe' s efforts at catering properly to the X-T2 are equally abysmal!

This is common among systems that were developed for digital only use.  Basically, the lens designers accept optical flaws that are correctable digitally and then require the lens correction for RAW implementation.  Most m4/3 lenses are the same.

The lens manufacturers do not want you to be able to turn it off because they don't want you to know what the lenses really look like ;)
