Film simualtions not applied in playback mode

Hi everyone! I got ma X-T2 secondhand and have been playing around with film simulations. Photos look great, but the problem is when I view them in the built-in playback gallery, no film simulations are applied to the photos.
I've got two sd cards, one for raw and one for jpegs (raw+jpeg save settings) and the jpeg photos from camera playback look exactly like raw-files (i.e., no film simulations applied). When I export the photos, everything seems to be working just fine and I get jpegs with applied settings. Maybe I've accidentally set something up wrong? Thank you for your help in advance!
