Touch screen no working on E-X3

Recommended Posts

Hey there, new forum member and Fuji enthusiast here.

I'm in a bit of a pickle with the used E-X3 that I got from e-Bay this week. It's a mint condition unit that I was very happy to find for a fair price. It arrived yesterday and I was so excited to open it that I managed to scrape it with a knife whilst opening the stupid bubble wrap. I know I know, I hate myself immensely... It made it worse that the knife scratched the leftmost part of the touch screen too. Deep-ish groove. That was obviously before I even turned it on and tested anything. I was pretty devastated and then discovered that none of the touch screen functions work. Checked all the settings, tried resetting everything, re-flashed the firmware etc. Nothing helped. I have an e-xpro3 loaner and know how it should work. So.. How likely is it that it was my fault and not the faulty unit?

I can obviously use the camera just fine (albeit without the function swipes and convenient previewing via swiping), but still need closure. I went back to the seller asking whether he forgot to mention a non-working TS without mentioning my mishap just to get an idea but he's saying it did work before. So, was it my fault then? Could a deep scratch damage the controller somehow? Thanks and sorry for a long one!
