The sony alpha mount lens I have does not have a manual mechanical aperature ring.

So this means with the lensa adaptor it only works wide open at f2.8?

I read you can adjust metering on camera but it is not same as f2.8 vs. smaller aperature?

Just want to clear this up before I get the adaptor, was really hoping to use my tamron 90mm f2.8

I know some have used the older tamron 90mm with adaptall but mine is alpha mount.

That kind of depend what is the value of the lens "parking" spot, some lenses stay wide open, other stay as the same aperture as it was last time it was connected to camera body.

Best way to double check is to try it out and see if the blades stays open or not when removed from the Sony body.

But without any electronic connector, you won't be able to change the aperture on the lens.

Darn too bad, Tamron is 90mm is such a nice macro lens.

I will try 18-55mm with Marumi achromat +3, once I receive the step down ring

Not sure going from 58mm down to 52mm, it will cause vignette.

Step down ring is cheap enough to try.

not 1:1 but can get in a little closer at 55mm

If you don't mind legacy lenses, there is always the "lil' wonder" Super Takumar 50mm F4, it's a 1:1 macro lens, if memory serves me well.

It is not that expensive and works flawlessly with dumb M42 adapter. And since it's a legacy lens, it's not focused by wires aperture is controlled on the lens like most of the Fujinon lenses.

I looked it up, its not macro, .15x mag for takumar.

I also have a nikon 50mm f1.8D, its not macro either but has 52mm thread same as the marumi, then need a nikon adaptor.

either nikon 50mm or fuji 18-55mm on 55mm, max out at 80-85mm / 330(marumi) so only .24x magnification, would

not call that macro

Fuji XF 60mm macro is great of course but macro work usually involves manual focus and there is the question

of how often you use it, so legacy lens looks attractive here.

sweet! I found a lens adaptor with aperature control ring for alpha mount.

I checked the tamron 90mm lens and the aperature remains fully closed when not in use.

quick question, there are menu settings in the xt10 for lens adaptor but I think it only goes up to 50mm.

Do I select one that gives me correct focus?

Thx

Which version of the 50mm did you looked up ? Only the F4 is a macro lens and I stand corrected, it is a 1:2 macro, not a 1:1 as I thought.

The 60 Fuji is supper annoying to use on AF when you start doing macro, the manual focus does help a lot better but the last 2 cm of close focus, the focus ring get super long, which is great for macro work, but completely unusable hand held, unlike the Nikkor 105mm F2.8 which is a 1:1 and remains all good in all conditions.

The lens adapter should allow you to have 2 extra slots for personalized lenses, or is that part only on the X-T1 ?

Good to know for 60mm macro! For real close ups, I always have to use tripod and manual focus for the 90mm macro.

I got the shakes really bad.

X-t10 has I think 7 slots for lens adaptor and I was able to go in there and set one for 90mm, will fiddle with the numbers

when the lens adaptor arrives.
