Front dial Aperture control is not working.

Hello, I've got a new XE3 with XF18-55 F2.8-4 kit lens. On the first day, I was able to change aperture using the front dial and also using aperture ring on the lens. But, now, I'm unable to change aperture using the front dial. When I see Aperture Settings, it is grayed out and is not working in camera settings. I have tried putting camera on Aperture Priority, but still the front dial doesn't change the aperture. Is there any other way this front dial can be made to change aperture?

You can't use the front/rear dial to control aperture on a lens with an aperture ring. However, what you can do is control shutter speed which then will affect your aperture. To do this, set your camera to program mode with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO on Auto.
