  1. The size in bytes is the same, but the file is in deed different as others have commented. It seems like all strings are encrypted, but not the code and the data, but there is probably an embedded check sum to avoid installing tampered files... ;-D Hans
  2. I have tried it on X-Pro1, and it is rather OK, but the XF14 is significantly better. It is a bit soft in the corners, and there is some vignetting, but it is a cute little thing though. I have tried the 12/5.6 too, which is also OK, and the 21/4 which is horribly soft in the corners. Most of these old, symmetrical designs made for film are soft in the corners due to a too steep angle of the light rays hitting the sensor in the corners.
  3. Having both the XF14/2.8 and the 12/2 Samyang I tend to use the 14mm for shooting indoors during urban exploration sessions. Mostly for its ability to keep lines straight, but also for a tad more sharpness than the Samyang. My Sammy do also suffer from a slight centering defect giving a bit fuzziness in the lower right corner. I used to have a Samyang 14/2.8 on my Canon in the past, and it did also have a centering defect. You may be lucky with your copy, but there will be lemons. I don't think their final QA is much to write about ...
  4. Any adapters, as this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Nikon-AI-F-Mount-Lens-to-Fuji-Fujifilm-X-Pro1-XPro1-X-Pro-1-FX-Adapter-Ring-/191271713408?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2c88aeba80 or a speed booster as this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Focal-Reducer-Speed-Booster-Adapter-Nikon-F-mount-G-lens-to-Fuji-FX-X100-X-T1-M1-/351359686780?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ceab587c will work. I have had the Vivitar since my Nikon days in the 80'ies, and it is stellar via a speed-booster: Good luck
  5. @actupsp Hard to tell. You should try ... ;-D Hans
  6. Just tested my old venerable Vivitar 55/2.8 through a no-brand Chinese 0.72 reducer. Brilliant lens and even better through this reducer than using it directly via an regular mount adapter. Processed from raw in LR CC 2015.1
  7. To get back to the original posters issue: Is there an improvement. Yes, I will say so. Some of the halos you get (or got) on edges towards a blue sky, or any edge over to blue is definitively better. An fine details to some extent, subtle, but definitively better. This pic is processed and rendered in LR CC 2015.1

  10. In my opinion, the XF14 is about perfect. Sharp across the field, little vignetting, no distortion.
  11. It seems like my X-Pro1 'suffers' from a looser mount compared to my X-T1, as I can rotate the lens a tiny amount when locked. I have never experienced any contact issues though. // Hans
