Tom reacted to darknj in Is the DMC-GX8 the X-Pro2 I've been waiting for?
The GX8 is an impressive camera, specially in respect of its sensor size, the IQ looks really beautiful but I am not certain that the group of users that wants the X-Pro2 would want the GX8, the latter still lacks the finer control that Fuji has blessed us with the X series. And I have to admit that I grew quite fond of the Fuji colors.

In overall, it more like something you would certainly consider if one isn't waiting any of the next generation of flagship cameras from Fuji.

The Pro1 is still fantastic . And it will remain so for a long time . I bought a second , because prices are so silly . I have both other two cameras too - but the Pro1 is my favorite when I want to have fun. I take the T1, when object are moving around. The 100T , when discretion is required . And the Pro1 with XF56, if I want to relax.

It's about the future of rf-style cameras.
3 years ago I felt in love with the Pro1. And I bought the E1 as a backup. When the E2 came with a new sensor, I wanted to try it too. As Fuji then packaged the E2 technology as a slr-style T1, I was confused. I still think it looks silly. But I bought it, because there were no appropriate updates for the E2.
Now they put the old technology into the T10. For me, this is going too far. I will certainly not make me a fool with that silly flash on a strange miniature slr caricature. So I wait for the Pro2 or E3.
I photograph just for fun. Certainly the Pro1 still makes great images. As the E2. It's more about the feeling of being a second-class customer. Which is no fun.

difficult to say if you don't tell us which ones you can pick...

The Planar 50/1.7 is nice & small. Light and very, very sharp. Nice for portraits.
The Planar 50/1.4 is my favourite. Wide open it is less sharp than the 1.7, but its rendering is very pleasing. Skintones are wonderful. Stopped down a little bit can give lovely 3D.
The Planar 85/1.4 is very nice, but big and bloody heavy. Taking the crop factor into account, I hardly use it because its view is too narrow, but it is not really tele enough for more distant subjects. Due to the large front element, it is *very* front-heavy. But if you happen to nail the shot...
The Sonnar 135/2.8 is not too heavy and with proper light quite astonishing. Against bright backgrounds you'll see lots of lateral CA (green/magenta) however. I really like this lens but I do not use it very often because of the focal length.
The wide-angles contain some very decent Distagons etc. I have no experience there, but many of those designs are still available in modern mounts like EF and Nikon.

Please note that especially the heavier lenses will make you camera front-heavy when stuck onto an adapter. I use a standard Kipon X->CY adapter, not some speedbooster thingy. It is well built and works as designed.

I used an adapter on my X-Pro 1 and my Carl Zeiss 50mm f:4 lens for my Hasselblad. I was amazed at how sharp it was wide open.

My all time favourite Contax lens is the 100 3.5 Sonnar. It's small and sharp. Suits the XT1 perfectly with a C/Y adaptor and makes me feel like I'm using my beloved RTS and STs again! Happy days.

I guess they have to offer something for the E2. The E2 is their actual offer for serious rf-style cameras. With the same price tag as the 'new' T10. So either an update to T1 3.x functionality will come or a new E3. I doubt they will send all their rf-style customers away..

beyond my pay grade to know what is going on at Fuji specifically right now after the success of X-T1. ;-)

however I can tell you this. When you are a small player your only choice to stay alive is to find a niche that the bigger guys are not willing to target.  Premium niche products.  As you gain your footing, you try to market products that cut more into mainstream. If you find a great deal of success with mainstream you quick focus your resources there and run with the ball as fast as you can. Often leaving behind legacy customers in your wake; unfortunately.    Look at Apple and Fuji Heavy Industries.  i.e. Subaru.

Tom reacted to Shotem in Any news about a FW 4.0 update on the E2?
I have the X Pro and the E2 and most of the primes except for the new 16. I like the range finder look, feel and most of all the ability to interact better with my subjects because they can see my face, and I can see what else is happening around them. I have no desire to ever own a T1/T10 SLR style camera from Fuji, that is why I dumped all my Nikon gear to stay with the SLR style means go back to Nikon. I was planning to get he xXPro 2 when it comes out, but now will also be considering a wholesale move to Sony if they abandon the E series as I find it is the perfect back up to the pro. I love my E2 and require an E3 as backup eventually. Now that Sony have some real lenses on the way, they are becoming a real alternative to me. I love Fuji but I switched to them for the rangefinder style and decided that style was worth it to put up with the little 16 meg sensor chip, If Fuji plan on putting me back into an slr style box then I'll go back to the big boys and get my big 36 meg sensor back.

Careful here Fuji, the groups that I personally shoot with here are all felling the same way.
