  1. Just as a FYI for those who may be interested in testing lenses, I found this pretty helpful. http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2010/11/how-to-test-a-lens Ignorance is however bliss, and maybe not testing your existing lenses is a better idea - I test my 23mm since I still have an opportunity to exchange it. Not sure how accurate my tests are or how much of this really matters in real life. I compared the 23mm auto focus to my other lenses. Focus spot was always narrow area on the '5' text and I tested each several times for consistent results. Some of my other lenses are slightly off too but the 23mm is the worst:
  2. thanks I think I'll just return the lens for a replacement, as the AF picture on the left is even a few inches further away from the MFD range... just wish Fuji had the ability to do focus tuning like some of the other big names do
  3. I thought so too, but I've tried finding the minimum focusable AF distance and looking at the close-up with focus-assist, it looks relatively clear. Switching to MF and going to MFD, everything is considerably blurry... can someone else try this on their 23mm? Also here's a 50% crop of the MF vs AF I just tried
  4. I just got the 23mm f1.4 and I noticed that if I shoot closeup of white text against black background there is a purple glow to the white text and it's not super sharp at center. I'm shooting wide open and very close to the minimum focus distance. I can focus fine with MF however and there is no purple glow (I feel like AF back-focuses). I'm posting here to see if others with the 23mm have had any AF issues when shooting close to min focus distance? debating whether I should send the lens back for replacement, but if it's a common issue then the next lens might as well have similar problems. Also oddly, while in AF if I get as close to the subject as possible then switch to MF, the lens is out of focus at minimum distance. I have to step back about an inch before minimum MF range is in focus compared to minimum AF range. Doesn't make sense why the minimum focus distance is different between AF and MF modes. Thoughts?
  5. Thanks again! Someone from Fuji responded saying I should send it to their Edison center for repairs... crossing my fingers that it won't take forever
  6. Thanks milandro... nah I've looked closely at many other images and it only appeared the last few weeks I've bought this in north america from B&H, .. hasn't fully been a year yet. So you think I'm better off contacting B&H first or just send it to Fuji?
  7. ah surprised that this happens after a whole year... hopefully the warranty is still valid. Any pointers on where to send it to and who to contact? They seem slightly obscure about their service
  8. Hello, I've been using my XT-1 and only recently i noticed that there are a few white pixels appearing on images. I tried blowing on the sensor with a tool and took a picture with the lens cap closed, but I still see these pixels. Not too familiar with sensor issues, but since they appear even with no light (cap closed), are they "bad pixels"? I didn't think this would be something that's common. Any suggestions?
  9. what software are you using to automate the process/replication across your place and friend's place? (or are you making the copies manually?) thanks everyone else for the replies
  10. haha trying Carbointe's trial but it's incredibly slow to upload! will look into black blaze and Crashplan, thanks guys
  11. I know Amazon started offering unlimited storage for photo for a cheap price, but that doesn't seem to include support for Fuji RAF files. They do have an alternate unlimited "everything" but the price is higher. Just wondering if any folks here have used online backup services and recommend any specific service? Edit: I'm looking for a solution with unlimited space, given how large Fuji RAW files can be
  12. This was great, thanks for sharing! LensBaby seems like a waste of $ for that pricetag. I would give it a try for $100

  15. Other than the difference in aperture/bokeh, does anyone know how overall image quality compares to 10-24mm at equivalent focal length of 12mm?
