Fuji 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 or the 16-55mm f/2.8 for Travel?
MrPolite replied to KMLNewYork's topic in Fuji X Lenses
if you are picky about image quality definitely skip the 18-135. It's decent but not razor sharp - I took it to NY on a trip and was unhappy with a lot of photos. It's much lighter and versatile than the 16-55 though. You could always use the lighter but optically excellent 18-55 during the day and switch to a small prime at night time -
It looks like X-T2 has more PDAF pixels than the X-PRO2? Form factor aside that would be the biggest technical difference to me

Bag for X-T1 plus 50-140mm Zoom
MrPolite replied to uva's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
Two questions about the bags mentioned here: 1) Does the Retrospective 7 or the Urban Disguise 35 hold XT1+ 50-140 attached? I rather not have to take the lens off each time to fit it in the bag. 2) Do these bags come with separator inserts so that you could stack two smaller lenses in one compartment? -
I would say test the lens for front/back focusing issues and return to vendor for a replacement if in doubt. My 56mm is extremely sharp, eye lashes appear super clear and sharp

Thanks for the responses! About the gray market stuff, is the only concern warranty, and if it's indeed gray market would you still recommend it (assuming I'm willing to take the chance that there won't be warranty issues with the lens). I've always bought directly from authorized sellers so I've never had to deal with gray market

ah the XC lens is an amazing price! This is the listing I'm considering - no taxes or other fees to ship to me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321654908410

I'm interested in the 18-135mm lens, and willing to buy a used one. It's currently on sale, but the ebay prices are considerably lower. I see sellers selling a "new" one as low as $550 with a white box (I'm assuming it was a part of a kit and they put it in another box) Question is, do you recommend ebay or is it sketchy gray market mostly? I'm looking at US listings ONLY

Looks very promising!

Fuji 16mm F/1.4 - Can I get some user feedback?
MrPolite replied to TopDownDriver's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Another vote for the 16mm.. lots of detail posted already. If you are into astro photography this lens has coma. There is something about it that renders different as others have pointed, maybe it has something to do with the lens coating? I have the 10-24mm and favor the 16mm over it nowadays, the images seem slightly more contrasty to me. Weather resistance is a big plus. It's a heavier/larger but the short focusing capability definitely makes this a more versatile lens as well -
Ah no in US! sorry thought you are here as well

Ah yea they treat the pro line differently. I need to contact them again for sensor issues and they're not responding via email! Could you direct message me the contact info you found for the pro center?

My accessory port door was warped too, it seems like bad design. They replaced it for me as a part of warranty.

btw do you guys think those are dust spots... is it possible that some oil gets spread inside from the shutter mechanism perhaps?
-
The harm is in the $$$ Attached is a scary shot of the sensor dust (highly modified RAW capture with a clean lens)... man, I THOUGHT I was careful with my sensor! I almost never expose the sensor for more than 1-3 seconds when switching lenses... a few times I've made the mistake of changing at the sea - perhaps that's how all this junk got there. I just received my camera back from repairs under warranty - would have been good to ask them for a sensor cleaning, though they would have probably charged an arm & a leg.
-
Mine has been there for at least a few months, so I'll opt in for the wet solution. Thanks for the info@
-
By the way do most folks recommend the gel stick above, or the Photographic Solutions swabs + Eclipse solution? I understand the gel stick isn't considered a wet solution which seems 'safer' to some, but would it work as effectively? I have a lot of junk on my sensor, presumably from the sea so it may not be easy to remove
-
Thanks! I had missed that very confusing indeed, but good to watch out for the right product
-
The product page specifically says not to use this for Fuji: "Sony’s and Fuji’s proprietary coating technology on its mirrorless cameras might cause the Sensor Gel Stick to leave some residue on the surface of the sensor filter, which will require thorough wet cleaning. "

good point ... as for camera itself, I have to send it for repairs soon since there are hot pixels on the sensor, so maybe I'll ask them to check AF as well, thanks for pointing that out
