    Installed.

    First impressions

    1. AF point moving when you switch between portrait and landscape in both EVF and LCD is worth the price of admission alone, well I say price of admission, the firmware was free.

    2. SS Auto, very useful feature and quite interesting to see what Fuji considers as SS for each lens. They go by the FF equivalence as far as I can tell from my limited experimentation. IE the 56mm it picks 1/85 rather than 1/56, which is what I had been doing when manually choosing a SS. I think it would be nice if you could (for primes) at least set your prefered SS for each lens in the auto mode. As I often would set it higher than 1/85 to be sure. I suppose though that is what full manual mode is for

    3) The AUTO ISO COmmand function is great, not only can you scroll continuously through all ISO values, when you get to the end of the scroll and are at the highest ISO value you then go into Auto 1, 2 and 3 of your iso menus, so it can still work as the old auto ISO function, but is even easier as you can now switch between your pre-programmed Auto Iso presets with the front wheel (you have to press it first) which is very useful and has just free'd up a custom button I had programmed to that function for something else now

These 3 are the most obvious from the first 10 minutes of having a play. I have yet to test Face and Eye detect as I am home alone WIll update if I have time later.

I don't think any micro 4/3 is going to be significantly better until there's a step change in sensor design. There will be incremental changes, mainly due to improvements in software, but for now size still matters.

Micro 4/3 sensor and ISO 1250, I would expect this level of noise. I limit iso to 800 with my Lumix if I want to retain fine detail.

With Fuji perhaps iso 3200 can be ok, unless you have the new medium format Fuji.

    Hi!

There were questions in the other thread about the 16mm 1.4 for shooting people. I absolutely love this lense and the way it works for me is just perfect. Keeping these moments and telling the story is what I really enjoy and would love to improve! Here 3 recent ones taken with the 16mm 1.4 on the XE-2 (aperture 1.4 - 2.8)

I'm not sure that this fits in people, but it's not sport and it's not landscape so I thought that this would be as good as place as any start the topic.

There's something of an assumption that you can't use Fuji cameras for dance and theatre - which is plainly untrue, so share your performance work here!

@batonrouge: Thanks again for the feedback. I guess you put your finger on my weakness, directing people toward a more dynamic pose. I feel like this is the most difficult part of portraiture work and I always admire / wonder how some others manage to do it. This is so different from working with landscapes I'm taking all the tips you into consideration.

The GFX is an incredible achievement when you consider that literally 6 years ago people were eagerly anticipating the new top of the range Fuji, the HS20 bridge camera... and now look where they are

Fuji are quite honest that their bread and butter line is actually the Instax range....

Funnily enough Leica too no? Officially it's all M10 and SL, but they're now buying and selling Instax type cameras via Fuji, so PRESUMABLY really want a slice of that market

Makes you wonder just how profitable high end cameras really are... often the high end products (of any genre of product) exist to drive up value of the lower end range... that works because you go to the store to see the amazing GFX, but buy the Instax because you can actually afford that and don't want to come home empty handed

There's not so many people getting rich off their blog... trust me on that... you'd need millions of hits per anum to get a 'living wage'

    And re the XF50

Can it be that's just not that exciting?

It's a budget lens (yet another budget lens from Fuji in fact) it's a bit of a less used FL in FF eqv (75mm) it has neither the headline grabbing aperture of the 56, the uniqueness of the 56 APD nor the "macro" of the 60

Also, to be fair to Fuji, they spoiled us with great, fast glass in previous years. It's quite possible (and accurately so, IMO) that they consider the APSC X range to be pretty mature. We're not really due any X-Pro/XT/X100 upgrade for a couple of years, and the GFX is the here and now

Of course... there's the POSSIBILITY that after the sales success of the 35 F2, Fuji came to the conclusion that for a large part of its customer base, outright IQ and fast apertures were of secondary importance to AF speed, looks and the tactile nature of the aperture ring. And thus decided the pro users would be better served with the GFX

OIS is of little interest to me on lenses <100mm, if i'm shooting a landscape at F/16 and 1/15 sec, I'd be using a tripod and a shutter release cable.

I'd like the availability of long prime lenses 200/300/400mm with OIS and support for tele-converters.

If the 35 F/1.4 had exactly the same optical performance and all that was changed was the focusing motor (you can add WR if you want) then fair enough, I'd probably still not replace version 1 of this lens (unless it died) as it is the best lens i've ever used
I'd much rather see a new flagship lens in a 33 or 35  F/1 (even if i could never afford/justify buying it)

TBH I'd like a 2 tier lens line up to continue, smaller, cheaper, slightly slower, WR lenses

    Fuji have a 16, 23, 35, 56, 90 Fast lenses (F/1.2 - 2) I've included the 90 here because F/2 at 90mm is a very shallow DOF
Then if Fuji expand the New MKII lens range to include a wider lens and a longer lens it will be a nice set of options for most photographers.
