"Weather resistant" to me doesn't mean very much. As far as I understood it, lenses that telescope, or zoom externally, are susceptible to "pumping" dust through the actual lens mechanisms. According to someone a the rental company I use, though, the 16-55's rear element doesn't move, so there's no airflow to the sensor. Looks like I'm going with the 16-55. I'll have a much more usable zoom range with it. And sharper images, apparently! Thanks for chiming in.

I'm torn between renting a 16-55 or 10-24 for an upcoming trip to Acadia National Park, and don't feel like bringing my four primes. 16-55 is certainly a wider range and I could get a nice mix of tighter details in Bar Harbor, but I'm concerned that it telescopes to zoom. Never used an externally telescoping zoom, so is it going to blow dust onto my sensor the entire trip? 10-24 would be incredible for landscapes, but then I lose the nice isolation of the 35ish-55 range that I like. I lean toward the 16-55, but really don't like that it telescopes.

That's awesome. Hopefully we'll get deals like that elsewhere.

Interesting! Would be nice if B&H and other retailers did the same kind of thing. Hope your shop's ETA is correct. Let us know.

Cool. I ordered mine 9a Eastern. Yeah, I saw they changed the product page to that earlier. Oh well!

Nice! Now I wonder where I managed to fall in line with B&H. Probably not first. Hah. With the X-Pro2, I decided not to preorder and just checked around every day. Managed to find it in stock at Amazon while other people were still waiting for preorders and more stock elsewhere.
-
Just out of curiosity, I wanted to start a thread where everyone can post about their preorders. I'll be curious as we get closer to late August/September who is receiving their order and from where. I placed my preorder last week from B&H, and today they changed the expected availability from mid-August to September.

To Battery Grip or not to Battery Grip
deepsun replied to jfoxshoots's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
I'm torn too. Had a grip for my DSLR, back when I shot Canon, but I ended up taking it off because of the added weight and how cumbersome it was in certain situations. The grip for the XT-2 certainly has much better features than a Canon grip, but the added weight and size still make me hesitate as to whether I would use it a lot. I guess my reply isn't that helpful! Hah. -
Same. The X-Pro2 has been awesome and I've got my preorder in for the XT-2.

X-Pro2 LCD Screen Flicker

That's exactly what the flicker on mine looks like. What a bummer.- 15 replies

X-Pro2 LCD Screen Flicker
deepsun replied to SDonoho77's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Weird. Same here. Mine flickers about 2-3 times AFTER letting off the shutter button, not when I press it. But the issue seems to disappear/happen inconsistently at slower shutter speeds. And it changes whether I'm using auto shutter speed or setting it manually. As well, it seems to happen at any speed if I turn off exp/WB preview. How annoying...- 15 replies

X-Pro2 firmware update Ver1.02
deepsun replied to deepsun's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
The only thing I can think of is to make sure you deleted the previous firmware download file before downloading the current one. If you didn't do that, your computer will append a "-1" or something to the current firmware and the camera won't recognize it. -
Here: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/firmware/x/xpro2/index.html Just updated. We'll see if the black frame "phenomenon" occurs again.

Just experienced this issue with my X-Pro2 yesterday. At first I thought it was the black frame issue, but I don't have a black frame from when the issue occurred. But the issue seemed similar with the "turn camera off and on" error message. I tried to take a photo, the shutter stuck 2/3 across the frame, leaving a partial area of the sensor still exposed, and then the camera went to the error message. This only happened once over the course of a 10-hour shooting day, but it was really scary. I'll be calling Fujifilm in the US to see what they say.

I'm literally right in the middle of shooting a wedding with the X-Pro2 right now. The freezing/black frame issue just happened to me, thankfully not during an important moment, but I was stressed enough to look the issue up. Using the 23. When it happened I was using EVF, single shot, single point. Nothing special. It looked like the shutter stuck partyway across the frame, leaving a small band of the image, the camera froze and I got the error message to turn it off and back on. Guess I'll be calling Fujifilm USA.
