  1. Ah, this is very helpful. I pulled my 16-55mm out and while it does feel a bit smoother, it also exhibits the same roughness in one spot of its range, similar to the characteristic of the 10-24mm. Thanks for your reply!
  2. What I'm experiencing is similar to what you describe, except that the spot where it gets tougher to turn (near 24mm) also feels like it's got a rough spot in it, but like you say it's nearly imperceptible.
  3. I’ve got a brand new XF 10-24 WR which exhibits some roughness in turning the zoom ring between about the 18-24 range. Does anyone else have this lens and notice that? Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the suggestion. I should have mentioned, but I’m actually getting rid of a few primes in favor of the zooms. I use two bodies so I plan to have the 10-24 and either the 16-55 or 50-140. Ideally, I’d keep the 16-55 because just walking around it’s a great lens. I also thought of the 55-200 as an alternative to the 50-140, but I see lots of conflicting opinions on sharpness and IQ.
  5. A bit on the fence about my plans to clean house and switch up my lens configuration. Recently purchased the 16-55mm while it was on sale. I've used the lens in the past on travel shoots and if I was forced to own a single lens, this would probably be it. But I would really like to add the new 10-24mm WR to my setup, as I'm now focusing more on travel and landscape photography. To that end, I'm feeling a bit torn. I know for sure I'll go with the 10-24, but it makes the 16-55 seem somewhat redundant with much of the range covered by the 10-24. I'm considering whether I'd be better off selling the 16-55 and getting the 50-140mm, which I've used and know to be excellent for longer range, abstract photos when it comes to landscapes and travel. Right now, I'm not sure I'm in a position to own all three, just can't decide between keeping the 16-55mm or just going for the more extreme ends of the spectrum with the 10-24 + 50-140. Thoughts? Thanks!
  6. Fujifilm services is suggesting I send it in. That can't happen for several weeks, as I've got back to back jobs until early November. Guess I'll hope nothing is wrong and hammer along until then.
  7. Not sure what the deal is, but my 23 1.4 is hard to clean. My other lenses seem to clean easier. I'm as gentle as possible--bulb blower, drop of Eclipse on a microfiber cloth and not much more. The 23 always seems to have a film on the front element. What do other people use for cleaning? A friend suggested ROR, which I plan to try.
  8. Here's mine, finally: http://joeandselah.com/blog/2016/10/3/fujifilm-x-t2-wedding-photographers-review
  9. Wow. Hard to believe it gets much worse/louder.
  10. Shot a short video of the noisy little thing. Tom H.--same noise as yours?
  11. Mine is non-APD, but I guess they have the same motor.
  12. I just got Vello screen protectors for my wife's X-Pro2 and my pair of X-T2s. Even though it's listed as being for the X-T1, it fits perfectly since the screens are the same size. Totally worth $25. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1102545-REG/vello_gspu_fxt1_lcd_screen_protector_ultra.html Love the fit and it seems to be pretty resistant to oil.
  13. Phew. Shooting a wedding and got a little freaked out.
  14. I've just noticed my 56 (non-APD) is a bit noisy when focusing, sounds similar to the 35 1.4. I read somewhere else that it's normal, but wanted to see if anyone else notices it with their copy. Thanks!
  15. Yeah, I'm on LR for similar reasons as listed. When I shoot a wedding and come home with 2,000-3,000 images, I need the catalog and functionality that it offers me for culling and keeping track of images to deliver, blog, etc. But I have heard that Capture One may do a better job at maintaining the sharpness of the X-Trans sensor over other raw processing software.
  16. I shot an entire event between AF-S and AF-C, both CH and CL, no freezing and no hiccups. I use SanDisk Extreme Pro cards.
  17. Fuji Rumors has been tweeting about stock status since the release, so follow him. B&H actually says September 26. Amazon and B&H have fast shipping, around 2-3 days, depending on where you live. I'm waiting on a couple of invoices, then ordering another one from whichever store seems to have it. Good luck.
  18. I haven't had time to dig into any AF-C custom settings, so I'm wondering what other's experiences have been. I've got a gig coming up tomorrow where I'll definitely make use of it (clean photos of athletes testing products like bats and shoes). Can anyone recommend one of the 6 custom settings on the AF-C menu that I could try? Probably shooting with the 50-140 for nice clean, isolated shots of products and players. Thanks!
  19. Thank you! No shallower than 5.6, if I remember correctly. Yep, there's an Athens in Tennessee, as well as my home state of Georgia. There are probably others too.
  20. I'm going with a sling strap attached to the tripod collar of the lens. And I'll probably run thin, heavy duty cord from one of the camera strap rings to the ring on the end of the sling strap, incase it comes loose from the tripod collar on the lens.
  21. I have the 16mm and it's probably my favorite lens out of the four primes I own. Excellent image quality and absolutely perfect for low-light situations where you want to tell the story and maintain a lot of context, namely at wedding receptions or high-energy events. But, I would love to have the 10-24mm because I love shooting landscapes, get paid to shoot quite a bit of interior, architectural stuff and HATE having to change lenses when I'm either out in a windy, dusty environment or on the clock and feeling the pressure. The limitations of the 10-24mm that occur to me are 1) it being f/4, giving it a disadvantage for handheld low-light work 2) no weather sealing, keeping me on my toes if I'm out shooting landscapes in if-y weather. But when considering how I intend to use it, I can imagine it being very useful. I shoot interior/architectural work on a tripod no matter what lens I'm using. I don't like using lights for interiors because my clients hire me for the natural look of my work, and no matter the lens, I'll shoot f/5.6-11 to keep things in focus. So the f/4 aperture isn't really an issue for either shooting situation. The lack of weather sealing wouldn't be a huge deal either. If the weather is inclement enough to potentially brick my non-weather sealed equipment, then I'm not going to enjoy being out there either, so things go back in the waterproof bag and I jet. I'm planning to buy the 10-24mm, as well as keep the 16mm. They both do different things really well. TL;DR Consider the type of shooting you do and if the benefits outweigh the cost.
  22. Yeah, especially while walking around at a 3-4 hour event with the weight of the lens swinging around. Probably just rent a sling strap and carry it attached to the tripod collar on the lens.
