The Fujifilm X-E2 will get the NEW AF-SYSTEM by the end of this year! (New Source)

At the beginning it was "just" a rumor.

 

then

 

1) Fuji France said they plan to release an X-E2 firmware as soon as possible

2) Fujifilm confirmed via twitter that they "plan to produce" a FW update "towards the end of 2015" ... they did not share the technical content, though
3) and now it's rumor time again: the New Firmware will bring the new AF-System to the X-E2

So what is the just released X-E2 firmware about? Does it really only support compatibility with Windows 10?

Could it be only this? I find this hard to believe and I predict angry disappointment among those who were waiting for the X-E2 to be updates as much as the rest of the top models, if the mountain will reveal to have labored and brought forth a mouse!

 

In that case I suppose this is NOT the last firmware that is going to update the X-E2 and certainly not what is getting this camera any “ closer” to  the more modern camera’s in the system! 

 

​We shall see what the “ other” release will give us since the Rumors are that later on in the year more cameras will get some firmware download ( so maybe there is more to come also for the X-E2... )

I recently downloaded windows 10, which for some reason cannot see the images on the X-E2.

Works fine if you plug the memory card straight into the computer!

 

Probably this update is just to resolve the windows 10 issue, and an update is still on the way, hopefully with the faster AF.

Can confirm, have downloaded and installed latest update Ver.3.01 in my X-E2,

and when connected using a usb lead it is now Windows 10 compatible!

I really hope by "new AF-System" they also mean the improved focus tracking in continuous high mode that is available in the X-T1 and X-T10...if the relevant hardware is the same then I guess that it should be possible.

this could explain why, in the Netherlands, we haven’t really seen the price of the X-E2 being brought any lower than the one of the X-T10 ( they are sold if we can say so, at the same price which means that nobody is buying any X-E2 anymore), so, if the performance of the AF will be brought at the same level of the X-T10 that would relaunch this model that hs been suffering very much by the introduction of the more advanced X-T10.

What ever the update brings, so long as it is improvement, will suit me just fine. I luved the XE2 when it came out and luv it now. Give Fuji their dues, they keep the Kaizen coming.
