Infinity focus.

Hello to all. I have a question and I need to ask if I messed up on the technique or is there something that I am missing. Last night while shooting fireworks I was using my 50-230mm xc lens focused to infinity at 400 iso @ 5 seconds exposure. I got everything right except the focus. It was still off, it looks quite out of focus. When I shot Canon this was the same technique ok I used and I never had a problem. Can someone please throw me a bone.

you focussed in manual focus?

Yes I did, I put the camera in mechanical shutter and in manual mode.

I had a similar situation when shooting the moon with the same lens.

 

I did focus in manual mode too but the pictures wouldn’t focus either.
