X-E3 HDMI connection question?

I was told that the X-E3's HDMI output will display whatever the camera sees on an HDMI monitor.

Could someone please confirm this ?

 

Also, does this feature work in photo AND video mode ,and if yes will it also show all the technical information normally seen in the viewfinder/or rear screen ?

(I have the X-E2, but that can only show photos or videos AFTER they have been taken and I want to verify the above before I trade it in for the X-E3)
