  1. I have the X-E3 and as far as I know, is not compatible with the Fuji Acquire program . And any "tethered" shooting ( controlling focus, shutter etc.) is possible only via wireless Android devices . Per the manual, the HDMI output provides live view thru the lens when shooting or play back to an HDMI monitor (there is nothing about HDMI to USB) But since Fuji continuously improves things , I suggest you check with your local Fuji support to verify .
  2. "Weather" resistance only minimizes water droplets from entering the lens. Take a look at how much your lens extends each time you zoom from 18-135 . THAT'S the volume of moist, outside air you literally "suck" into the lens each time you zoom (and the little filter in the air inlet only minimizes dust, not the moisture in the air) So when you go outside ( i.e. from an air conditioned room )and your lens is colder than the warmer , moisture laden outside air , it will condense in the lens . So wait till the lens has warmed up to ~ the same temperature before using it. And when you're finished with it , go somewhere where the air is dryer and "pump" the lens several times to "dry it out" PS: this is also the reason why fungus and microscopic dirt particles wind up inside lenses over time ( including prime lenses which extend/ retract when focusing )
  3. The "hunting" noise is due to the lens continuously trying to focus . If PRE-AF is set to ON (in AF/MF >PRE-AF ), the lens will keep focusing CONTINUOUSLY in S and C modes (even when the shutter is not pressed) Turn it OFF , and see if that solves the issue
  4. Your link says you have a 77-72 STEP DOWN adapter ring You need a 72 - 77 STEP UP adapter which will have a 72 mm MALE thread you can attach to your lens
  5. shortly after I bought an X-E3 , Fuji did a firmware update which was so extensive , they actually had to issue a new manual for it. the camera works great as is, so I don't expect anything major coming soon
  6. If your camera lens has a filter thread, you can just get a step-down ring ( male ) to a T-2 (female thread) and then attach that to a standard T-2 adapter for your 1 1/4" eyepiece ( preferably get an adjustable length T-2 adapter) Both are cheap to find on E-Bay
  7. Hi all, I recently bought the 100-400 with the 1.4 TC . Since I am really impressed with it, I was thinking of also adding the 2X TC .But since the reviews by others were not exactly stellar ,I decided to check it out before buying it. Well the great folks at my local photo store were kind enough to open a brand new box and let me take a few shots with it . And since I was there , I thought I might as well also see how my 18-55 and 55-200 Fuji Zooms would compare . It was ~ 11AM and overcast sky . All shots were taken from a tripod ,with remote electronic shutter release (to eliminate any human shaking ). The camera (X-E3 )was set at ISO 400 and all lenses with OIS off and auto Aperture on. 1. 18-55 vs. 55-200 : Just for fun, I wanted to find out how the 18-55 would compare with the 55-200 , both at 55mm( the only focal length they have in common ) Let me just say that I am very happy with the results I always get from both and I will definitely keep them due to their size, weight and versatility. And since the 18-55 is probably the most commonly included "kit" lens, I thought others might find it interesting as well. I took 3 shots ,at different subjects and distances . Results: the 55-200 (with both lenses at 55mm) is the better lens 2. 55-200 vs. 100-400 : With both , I took shots at 100, 150 and 200 Results: at 100-150 mm it's close , but at 200mm the 100-400 is definitely the better lens 3. 100-400 with and without the 1.4 and 2X TC's : First : without any TC at 100, 140, 200, 280 , 300 and 400mm Second : with 1.4X TC at 100(140 eq.) 200 (280 eq.) 300( 420eq.) and 400(560eq.)mm Third: with 2X TC at 100 (200eq) , 200 (400eq,) and 400(800eq) mm Results with the 1.4X TC : when comparing the results at each matching focal length ( w/and without the TC ), they were ALL very, very close, up to ~300mm, even when enlarging the non TC images to the 1.4 X , with just a tad in favor of the lens without the TC . And at max. 400mm , the difference in quality only starts to show up when cropping both images to well over at least DOUBLE their size (up in 800mm territory ) at which point the 1.4 X starts to earn it's keep . Results with the 2X TC : long story short , at ALL focal lengths( even at max. 400mm ) the results taken with just the basic lens and then cropped to match the size taken with the 2X converter were all sharper ( I was very disappointed because I really wanted it for the occasional extra reach ) Conclusion : I am extremely satisfied with this lens and the 1.4 X TC .
  8. I have the Nissin i 40 and it is compatible with the X E3 Nissin_Compatibility_Chart.pdf
  9. I had the X-E2 and traded up to the X-E3 . The X-E3 comes with an external flash( included with the camera )which attaches to the flash shoe when needed and is MUCH better than the built in flash of the X-E2 , which was pretty much useless. I also use glasses and I can't say that I noticed any difference when using the viewfinder . And I use it almost exclusively . As far as other differences : the new larger sensor and processor produce noticeably better pictures and the X-E3 has HDMI live view output ( which I really like because now I can plug in an external monitor for focusing when using my old manual lenses ) well, all the other improvements/differences are easy enough to get from the spec sheets ,so there is no point to list them here. All in all, I liked the X-E2 but am very happy that I made the upgrade .
  10. I have the Fuji 55-200 and am very happy with it , but I also want something longer at times . I understand that FRINGER and some others now have adapters for Fuji cameras which allow FULL AUTO functions for Canon and Nikon lenses , as well as the Sigma and Tamron's ( with Canon/Nikon mounts ) According to Fringer , some of them may NOT be compatible , so check . PS: The Fuji 100-400 just went on sale for $ 1599 ( $300 off ) so that may be a deciding factor for you as well
  11. Hi,to activate video recording , you need to have one of the Function(Fn) buttons assigned to do so ( at least that's my understanding). The factory preset one on my camera was the Fn-7 button (next to the on/off shutter on top of the camera. If for some reason this was changed on yours ,you need to re-assign one of them . In the setup menu: scroll down to "wrench 2" , then go right to : BUTTON/DIAL SETTING continue right to :FUNCTION(Fn) SETTING continue right and a screen showing all the Fn 1- thru 7 locations will appear . Scroll down to which button you wish to use ,go to the right again and then scroll down to "MOVIE". Click OK and THAT button should then activate your video on/off (I find the Fn-7 next to the shutter to be the most convenient , but you can assign any one you prefer ) hope this helps
  12. I was told that the X-E3's HDMI output will display whatever the camera sees on an HDMI monitor. Could someone please confirm this ? Also, does this feature work in photo AND video mode ,and if yes will it also show all the technical information normally seen in the viewfinder/or rear screen ? (I have the X-E2, but that can only show photos or videos AFTER they have been taken and I want to verify the above before I trade it in for the X-E3) thank you
