Hey everyone,

I'm torn between getting a lens that I'll be using a lot in the future, or if I should just make-do with my current loadout.

Do you think 23mm f/1.4 + 35mm f/1.4 combo would be enough for a street style* fashion photoshoot (for eyewear) or do you think I should go for a longer lens? I'm considering purchasing 16-55mm f/2.8 but, you know, that glass is a tad expensive.

Attached photo is from a trial shoot we made today. My model (actually the shoot's stylist) has no makeup. Image is unprocessed, obviously. Taken with the 35mm. It was really tricky get myself out of the frame because the glass is reflective.

Plus, I normally shoot reportage/documentary photos in available light conditions, so a sturdy lens like the 16-55mm really could come in handy in the future.

* It's not going to be an ordinary show-product-in-a-head-shot sort of photoshoot. Think sneaky street/candid portraits — but with products. Plus, my models don't have a problem with working close.

(I wish 90mm f/2.0 were out, I'd get it in a heartbeat. I don't want to buy 56mm f/1.2 at the moment — I know it's great but it's slightly older, I've heard that its autofocus is less than stellar and has got no WR. And if I were to invest in a portrait lens, I'd prefer to work with 90mm's tighter focal length)

Cheers,
Cihan
