  1. An old post but have been playing with the new to me GFX100S. To answer a couple of questions, In the 35mm mode, either selected manually or on auto, the sensor acts as though it is a 60Mp 35mm full frame sensor. In theory. it seems like a good idea if you wish to use 35mm FF lenses via an adapter. However in practice, the camera is acting like a 60Mp 35mm camera and only records that area. It doesn't act like a magic format converter. So in reality you may as well switch if off and crop the images yourself. It seems as though the camera only records what is on that part of the sensor both in the jpg's and raw files. So if the outer areas were not actually recorded, there is no way to recover something which was effectively never there in the raw file. Have now set it to "off" on my camera and will crop any photos with a hard vignette
  2. Hi Baddoch. I have followed a similar path from Pentax. It depends on your perception of small/smallish. If you are looking for something to act like a normal "pop-up" flash, the EF-X8 works well. If you are looking small, I would look for the Godox TT350-F. I pcked a couple up second hand from LCE around £25 each. (Think Pentax AF360 FGZ but a bit smaller) If you are after a "full size" one, I would go for the Godox V860III-F. Just before Xmas I picked a couple up brand new from Amazon at £91 on offer with a voucher. Fantastic flashes with Lithium ion batteries and fully compatiple with the Fujifilm TTL modes as well and integrating with the other Godox units and guns including the TT350. These are still available on Amazon for £153 but there is a voucher code for 30% making them £107, Compared that with over 4x for the Fuji unit which is less flexible.
  3. An old post but an answer might be useful to someone. Basic answer is that the Godox triggers. The Godox flashguns will not work with the EFX-500 in TTL mode either. However, the Godox system works extremely well and for the price of one EFX-500, you can get 2 of their biffer guns and a third smaller one to act as the trigger on the camera and as a portable stand alone flash.
  4. I am looking at expanding my lens selection for the (new to me) GFX100S. Looking at my usage on the 35mm FF, perhaps the most common lenses I use are the 20mm, the 15mm with some use of the Laowa 12mm. I have been considering options. I already have the 45mm F2.8. One possibility would be the 20-35mm F4 zoom but I am not a fan of zoom lenses except for lightweight travel and for that I would probably take the X-T5. So a more likely option would be both the 23mm and 30mm lenses which would be easier to source and cheaper. If I go that route, the next step would be one of the Laowa's. So the question is does anyone have any experience of the 17/4 or the 19/2.8? My understanding is that the 17mm lens is basically the same optical formula as the 12mm FF lens(which is excellent) with an in built MFC whereas the 19mm is specifically designed for the MF size sensor.
  5. I thought much the same and wanted a charger as I have also bought a GFX100S. I got this one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BYB4H1C?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It works extremely well and is a fraction of the cost of the genuine Fuji one
  6. I have recently upgraded from the Pentax 645Z to the GFX100S. Still getting to know the camera but the Pentax 645 lenses seem to work very well with the GFX. They are stunning quality and very cheap for that quality, even more so if you get the early "A" manual focus versions rather than the later FA autofocus ones. In particular the 200mm and 300mm lenses are a very cost effective solution for a long lens and as you are effectively using the "sweet spot" from the middle of the image circle are perhaps a better alternative than the FF 35mm lenses.
