Eva got a reaction from IQ-Foto in X-T1 FW 4.0 BETA: I have it and share my findings soon ;)
I have installed it, and haven't found any bugs so far.
Feels final, works as a final.
I have no doubts this is it.

Metering mode dial works only if Intelligent Face Detection is off (X-T1 user manual page 53).

It's possible to re-install the leaked firmware over and over. So I think when the official version comes out there won't be a problem installing

From what I remember the fw came from the french Fuji site via their Facebook page. Do you really think it is a beta one week before the actual launch??? And again my point is that it was already announced for June 18 which is the date when the fw was 'leaked' by mistake. This is the real thing releaaed in error by Fuji.

A good example of what? Reporting to a forum just like hundreds of people do every day with official firmware? These people aren't part of a user group reporting their findings to Fuji. The only thing an inaccurate report of a bug will do at this point is give some ammunition to those that desperately want to turn this whole leaked firmware thing into something dramatic because otherwise there just isn't any real drama to report. But there seems to be plenty of made up drama from user error to your camera might blow up or Fuji might put you into leaked firmware prison or you'll never be able to use your camera again and I'm sure I missed a few others.

Revenge over all. That's KaiZen. I own two XT1's, a XE2, seven lenses, all of them purchased ahead of any review, many of them preordered, trusting in Fuji. That's why I just can't understand revenge.
Know what? I really don't care, if for any chance there is gonna be revenge against your trusting customers, I'll grab my second body and carry on working. Next purchase, I'll remember this. Before lethal injection, my last meal, please, sushi.

Let's hope they have time to add a 24 hr clock (do they really use am/pm in Japan???) , 3 step bracketing and a (proper) flash system before they call it a day. All possible w firmware updates only. 4.1 or 5.0? -

Further, if Fuji produces more firmware and it does not update to 1000s of us who updated with this so called beta 4.0 who is Fuji punishing??? Who are the people that ran and updated immediately??? It is the same crazy Fuji fans that is a core base of Fuji, the same people who pre-order and run and buy Fujis next camera and all the lenses. We are the core of that crazy group of early adapters and people who preorder and buy new things from Fuji, guaranteed.
Does Fuji really want to offend that core group of its most enthusiastic early adapters and buyers of all their gear???? Not a good move.

And for testing them before release. How dare they...?!

So far no problems no bugs with the firmware. And I don't see anyone here or any other place who had this for the last few several days to complain about a single problem with the firmware. Because there are literally 1000s of people right now with it on their XT1 actively using it, which is times more than usual with normal beta software, we would have heard something surely if there was anything wrong. Everything works as it should.
Further, with firmware 4.0, it is not clear whether Fuji is going to update it any further. What else do you think they could squeeze in the software for that 2 year old camera??? What features you are thinking? The camera is limited by its sensor and autofocus system at this point. So the present firmware is possibly the last one anyway when it comes to this model. At least I don't see how much more they could improve it beyond what's already in this firmware.

As a programmer I would really wonder if internal upgrade logic is based on official FW number. Of course this can be, but much better idea is having internal versioning as it is under developer's control, while official versioning is usually defined by sales guys or "go to market" department. Also performing internal upgrade test benefits from this approach.

When I installed the FW, I knew it was at my own risk. I won't blame Fuji for sure

I was worried about this.. so I tried and update my 3.1 to the same 3.1 that was left on my card from when it was released.. and it updated.. same firmware as before.. So if this beta is a beta or final.. I should still be able to update.. Plus I doubt they would make it hard for their beta testers to update to the final when it gets released.

Honestly, why would they even care? They stated that installing the pre-release version is not recommended and at your own risk.
Now, I am personally taking this risk every day, as I am taking more pictures with pre-release hardware and software than with production samples. I don't have sleepless nights about it, because I know that in case a camera or lens is fried, Fuji will replace the hardware and send the broken products to Tokyo for analysis. This happens, I still remember my first case before the X-Pro1 was announced at CES, when a new lens firmware for pre-production 18/35/60mm lenses fried many of them beyond repair. In the internal document for the firmware, Fuji forgot to mention which PP serial numbers the firmware was suitable for (and which not). So yes, even the serial number and production date of your camera and lens can make a difference, that's why pre-release testing is not public.

Worst case scenario is when its beta and your camera won't see the final as a new firmware you have to wait for the next firmware fix

Those claiming big dangers on evil betas will reaming silent as death in seven days.
Please fuji folks, accept your plans has been spoiled and do not fool your customers.
Those kind of lies are also part of the customer's communication, and we do not use to like them.
And if for any chance should I be wrong, I won't swallow my words, it's as simple as waiting for v.4.1 ...... and this is indeed a pretty NICE beta , I guess, the best ever built beta in software developing History

I happen to guess that if Fujifilm UK cares that much about their customers, they should make the 4.0 release to work after this "evil beta", just to heal their customer's foolness
