  1. Hi I don't have any real need for that facility - however I did try the multiple shots before I sorted out the electronic shutter - all the exposures were a mess! But getting the electronic shutter working has solved the issue. Previously, taking a video was fine but stills with the mechanical shutter were no good. Louise
  2. Hi again. Yeah, I know about the previous updates, but thanks anyway. I have 1.40 installed but it still doesn't allow usb tethering. I haven't yet done the latest 1.41 update - I'll get around to it one of these days! I actually use the X-T30 attached to a microscope - hence the concern with the shutter shock! Louise
  3. Ah a flick of the 'Auto' lever has fixed it! Why do they have to make things so obscure! If it said in the manual 'ES not available in Auto mode' that would have made life so much easier! Anyway, thanks for your help @Greybeard!
  4. Yes, I said in my op that I was in auto mode. I'll try something different then - thanks! Louise
  5. Ah, that's probably what it is then - I'm using a slow exposure and no flash. I just have the 1st and 3rd options on my menu. I bought a mirrorless camera because I thought it would be better than my dslrs but it's pretty useless for what I wanted it for. No live view/tethering And can't even use the electronic shutter Yet I can take a 4k video. It doesn't make sense that I can do that but can't take a still. Louise
  6. Thanks for the reply. I don't have that choice in my x-t30 menu It's just MS or ES/MS with ES for fast exposures i.e. 1/4000s Louise
  7. Hi all I have been trying to use my x-t30 with the electronic shutter but not having much success As it's a mirrorless camera I thought it would be straightforward! But there appears to be no way to manually select it (only combined ms/es). I've set it to auto with 1/125s exposure. I'm using a hand-held wired shutter release. I'm sure it was working before I updated the firmware to 1.40 a while back but I confess I haven't really used it since. Am I missing something or is there any way around this issue? At the same time, I can take short video clip and it's fine - surely I must be able to take a still? Thanks for any suggestions Louise
  8. Yeah, the X-T30 doesn't currently support tethering, unfortunately - unlike the X-T20 which I believe does. I live in (probably vain) hope that they enable it in a future update.... Louise
  9. It's ok. I have the X-T30 mounted on a microscope and just wanted to tether. Instead I've gone back to using the hdmi output. Thanks Louise
  10. Hiya It's just not very good, really. Calling it 'webcam' is misleading as it only works with streaming software like Skype, Zoom etc. You can't change many settings when it's running. You have to disconnect it to switch it off - just turning the camera off doesn't stop it working! Then you have to change the connection settings to use the normal usb again. So I think I'm abandoning it and going back to just using the hdmi output. Maybe a future firmware release will confer proper usb tethering - fingers crossed! Louise
  11. I made some progress though it doesn't appear to quite do what I want it to. I can't get it to work in Microsoft Camera but it will work in Skype. Although I can take a still pic which it puts in the 'Still' folder, that's all it will let me do - just one pic! If I try and take another, the shutter fires and a second pic isn't downloaded from the camera. Huh? I can't see that's intentional behaviour? Maybe connecting via a different Window's app would work better? Any recommendations? Also, it appears to delete the contents of the Still folder when you disconnect - tut! Stills aren't stored on the SD card either - I presume with the X-Webcam connection mode, the SD Card isn't visible. Is this the same with other X-Webcam compatible cameras?
  12. Hi all I updated my x-t30 with the latest 1.40 firmware and connected it to my Win 10 PC. Running X-Webcam, the camera is recognised ok. If I take a still shot the image is downloaded to a 'still' folder. Great! But I can't get an actual live image on the screen with the Windows Camera app. It refuses to recognise that I have a camera connected . As far as I can make out all the permissions are set ok. If I connect an actual Web Cam then that works fine in the Camera App. I'm obviously missing something with the Fuji? I have it set to X-Webcam in the Connections menu. Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks Louise

  14. Hi guys! I see Fuji have released their new 1.40 firmware upgrade for the x-t30. It's supposed to support X-Webcam now. I'm not sure if that equates to usb tethering but I'll download it tomorrow and give it a try. Louise
