Metering Mode Dial on XT-3 not doing anything

Hello - I have just purchased an XT-3 second hand and I love it. However the metering mode dial (underneath the shutter speed dial) does not seem to do anything..... Normally if one selects Spot metering you get a box (which you can change the size) - selecting Multimetering when you half press the shutter button there will be multiple green boxes to show wehere the camera has focused/metered and if you select the Average metering there should be a similar array of multiple boxes when the camera focuses. However upon turning the dial and selecting the different modes nothing happens. I have seen in the forums and on the internet that I need to deselect the face recognition which I have tried but this doesn't change anything. I have seen multiple questions where people are asking the same thing but no solution to the issue has been supplied.  HOWEVER if I choose the metering mode from with in the Quick Menu then I get the desired response and the viewfinder / LCD screen shows the difference in metering mode - but the hard dial doesn't do it ...... This is very strange .... maybe I have missed something - the camera is second hand but I'm not sure there is a physical problem as it seems other people have had the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you

I have the same issue with my Fujifilm X-T1, dial doesn't seem to work only in the Quick Menu I can change metering. I can't find the answer since I bought it 6 months ago.
