remote on XT1

Hi all,

I have got a  cable remote control for a XT1.

problem is the port cover door must be kept open.

since I use the remote as trigger on a self made photo gun for animal photography (or at least this is the idea since wild animals are not that cooperative...  ) I fear to break the door while carrying the camera around in the woods.

any idea? could one unscrew the door?
