Hey all

New (or rebooted, at least) poster from the far North of England.  Used most manufacturers and camera types over the past decades but I appear to have now settled on Fuji X as my ideal combination of size, weight, quality and usability.  Currently shooting with an old X-T1, Samyang 12, Fuji 23/2 and the 50-230, and very happy with the setup.

I've tried most genres over the years and have just come off the back of a three year addiction to street shooting and gone back into landscape/seascape work, using 16 stop ND.  Will no doubt be posting some examples later.

Anyway, looking forward to reading and contributing :)

    • The film simulations dial over-rides everything else - if you want to use the custom settings (or use the menu to set film simulations) then you set the dial to “C” which essentially turns it off.
    • https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t30-iii/about_this_camera/parts/#gsc.tab=0 I do not have a copy of this camera, but this page in the manual reads like you do have to change the dial to apply the custom settings, especially for the ACROS based simulation. You are correct about other X series bodies (without the simulation dial) automatically applying the simulation chosen in the setup menus. Perhaps one of the Sim Dial users that show up here now and then will come across this posting and be able to help you. p.s. Welcome to the forum.
    • Hello Fuji world, I'm new to photography and recently purchased the Fuji x100 vl  so would love to get a brief tutorial on the initial setup of my camera i.e most beneficial beginner camera settings,  how to best take pictures (angles, light/dark settings etc).  Thanks
    • Friends,    Happy New Year!   Two simple and perhaps rather silly questions: 1.) I cannot, for the life of me, change the rear command dial setting to control exposure compensation under particular conditions: my goal is lock the exposure compensation dial on the top and use the rear command dial to control exposure compensation. In the COMMAND DIAL SETTING MENU, I have the exposure compensation setting assigned, but ... no dice! 2.) And then, it is possible to have the exposure compensation "reset" when turning the X-T5 On/Off? If I have a value of -3 exposure compensation, for example, the camera "remembers" the value, and I have to re-zero the exposure compensation. Any help towards answering these two questions would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you friends and happy shooting! -M
