  1. After a few years enjoying the perfect combo of the XF18 1.4 on a XT4 Full Spectrum converted, it suddenly stopped working. I have basically used the combination to take landscape photos and infrared videos, and they have always given me spectacularly sharp results with no focus problems, even in automatic mode. Suddenly, one day (I don't remember if there was a firmware update in between), the focusing distance was reduced to a few meters... making it impossible to focus at infinity (not even manually). I took the camera to have it "repaired", but they said it was fine. The 18mm works perfectly with my XH2. So... what am I missing? I have done all the tests that were and are possible with my knowledge. Any ideas?
  2. I have had a Fuji X-E2 converted to IR, but I am getting a bit fed up with the hot spots that Fuji lenses seem quite bad at creating. I know that opening up the aperture helps reduce hot spots but would like to use f11 or so. I understand that you don`t get hotspots with manual focus lenses and I am wondering whether to get an old film lens or would a Samyang work, at least with a Samyang I wouldn`t need an adapter. Any advice would be welcome.
  3. Finally I had some time to play with my X-T1 IR :-)

  5. Hi, I get bored easily during daytime on vacation, as the light for taking pictures isn`t really good. This is different if you have an IR-converted camera in your bag, which is ideal to use in bright light. I use a converted X-Pro1 (620nm) which allows bw- as well as false color pictures. I have adjusted in-camera settings to produce bw-JPGs: B(y), H Ton +2, S Tone +2, Sharp -1 with no or only litte tweaking in Lightroom afterwards. For false color I use RAW-files which I adjust in Lightroom. You need a red/blue swap plugin, though. Here are some pictures taken with different lenses in beautiful Cadiz and Sevilla. If you want to see more IR-pictures you can find them in my Flickr account here or here. The following 3 shots were taken with the excellent Zeiss Touit 12mm: Cadiz by Cruiser223, on Flickr Sevilla by Cruiser223, on Flickr Sevilla by Cruiser223, on Flickr
  6. Hi All,I recently published a Fuji-centric article on the best lenses for infrared photography. Most of the lenses I tested and reported on are XF mount. I did include some Sony FF and Micro 4/3 as well. I include several images too, of course. You can see the article on PetaPixel or my blogHope you find it useful!Happy shooting,Joel

  8. Finally, the last Sunday, I found some time to take my X-T1 IR for a walk. Not so far - just to the wood next to my home. This time black & white, but as I set my camera to write both RAW and BW, probably I will post also the color versions soon. You can see some pictures here: http://eng.roguski.eu/2016/09/27/fujifilm-x-t1-ir-black-white-in-infrared/#more-145 I used 35mm f/2 - well, probably XF 10-24 would be more comfortable, but first tests have shown definitely that this lens is really poor for IR and ruins all the pictures. So now I have been thinking very hard what wide lens to use for IR.
