jerryy reacted to Giampaolo Masserano for a gallery image, Ancient beauty...and modern ugliness
In the background the spectacular Roman Arena of Arles.
On the walls of the surrounding alleys obscene writings, peeling walls and dirt.
A question comes to my mind: what are the REAL ruins?

jerryy reacted to Giampaolo Masserano for a gallery image, Aigues Mortes (Camargue - France)
Statue of Louis IX of France, known simply as Saint Louis.
He led two Crusades that departed from Aigues Mortes: the seventh in 1244 and the eighth in 1270, in which he died at the age of 56.
