  1. I have just bought a Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD B061 lens to use alongside my Fujifilm 16-80mm F4 Kit Lens. I am finding that while image stabilisation seems to be similar for still images at equivalent focal lengths this is not the case when recording movies, where the Tamron lens shows noticeable 'shake' compared to the Fujifilm lens at equivalent focal lengths. I have set image stabilisation on the X-T5 to IBIS/OIS. I am on latest X-T5 firmware 2.03. I have notified Tamron but meanwhile would appreciate any thoughts, advice or experiences on image stabilisation using non-Fujifilm lenses with X-T5. By the way, I am very happy with image quality of the Tamron lens from the tests I have done so far. It's not professional quality of course, but neither am I and it saves carrying multiple lenses around when out and about.
  2. I use back button focusing on X-T5 but only lock AF using Switch option. I have set both AF ON and AEL buttons to AF ON because I kept pressing the wrong button accidentally and I let the camera take care of AE Lock when shutter half-pressed. BTW I think Fujifilm could do also do a better job of locating the other Fn buttons particularly the one next to the shutter button as it is really difficult to get to. I;d prefer them all in a vertical line on the front so can easily feel which one I'm pressing!
  3. UPDATE ; Sorry I updated the wrong post earlier. I still have this problem but I have switched back to small icons anyway.
  4. Thanks for this, Abmet. I have since discovered that if you turn DR (dynamic range) to Auto then you can't use the rear dial to change programs when in P mode. Go figure! Anyway, I have now set DR to 100% (i.e. 'normal') and now the rear dial works. My goodness me, this is one complicated piece of kit!!
  5. Thank you so much for this. I was having the same problem and simply couldn't work out why! Never thought of looking at the top menu bar!! And yes it works.
  6. Shooting mode (i.e. P, A, C1, etc) and the focus mode (eg AF-S) not shown in the bottom left of the EVF or LCD monitor when Large Indicators Mode (Screen settings) is ON. Does anyone else have this problem?
  7. Just traded in my Lumix GH5 for an X-T5 (Firmware 2.02) with 18-60mm kit lens and am struggling with the customisation. In particular both front and rear command dials appear to do nothing when rotated in any shooting mode (the rear dial operates fine in menu modes). For example, in shooting mode 'P' (all dials set to Auto) I understand that rotating the rear dial should change aperture/shutter speed combo but this does not happen )I had managed to change the 'press' action on the rear dial to bring up Focus Area and then rotating the dial functions fine). Similarly, I understand that pressing the front dial is meant to cycle through Aperture, Exposure comp, ISO, but nothing happens when I press the button or rotate it in any shooting mode. Maybe I just don't understand the interplay between all the settings (I have even bought the excellent Tony Phillips guide to the X-T5 which explains so much more than the X-T5 manual) so please can anybody advise? Thanks.
