1. Hi, the new EF X500 Fuji flash is certainly very good, but far too expensive for me. For getting TTL and HSS, the choice seems to be between the Metz 44 AF2 for Fuji and the NIssin i60A for Fuji.

But I can't find a firm confirmation of their full compatibility with the XT2. I get the Nissin i40, perfectly working on my XT1, but not fully compatible with the XT2...

Does anyone have confirmation ? Which best choice ?

2. The logical explanation is that the shutter speed/aperture/iso is only taken right before every shot in the burst if you leave shutter speed/aperture/iso dial at AUTO, depending on your current metering mode and what is in frame. Every shot might have a different shutter speed/aperture/iso that way, and logic follows thus that no shutter speed/aperture/iso can be indicated since the values may fluctuate.

Also, normally for the scenarios where AE Lock OFF is required (panning, long bursts,...), you would be deciding the shutter speed anyway, shooting action you'd set 1/500 or faster depending the subject... For panning maybe 1/60 or 1/125, etc...

AE lock is defaulted to on for most shooters, and not until you are shooting long bursts into or away from a stronger lightsource is it advised to switch it off (for as long as you need it off, then switch it back on for normal shooting).

Pressing the AE-L button, should give you your shutter speed/aperture/iso indication for the first frame of the burst (but I don't have my cam with me now, so I can't check).

Very interesting comment, Tom H, and thanks a lot. It seems you are right, having quickly checked. I will try again this evening.

3. could it be that you have messed around ( or maybe that you’ve never set it up) with the custom settings of the screens?

Page 216 of the manual.

1 In shooting mode, press DISP/BACK until standard indicators are displayed.

2 Press MENU/OK and select DSCREEN SETTING > DISP. CUSTOM SETTING in the D (SET UP) tab.

3 Highlight items and press MENU/OK to select or deselect.

Select or deselct what you want the displays to show.

Thanks for this, but I have checked this point, and it is correctly set....

4. In the Setup / Button-Dial Setting menu, when you select OFF for the "SHUTTER AE" item, in order NOT to lock the exposure while half-pressing the shutter button (which is advised in case of burst mode, and also logical), the speed is not indicated if you are in A mode, or aperture in S mode. I even succeeded in getting no information at all (nor A neither S) in P mode...
This is very unconvenient.
Do you get the same behavior ? Is there a "logical" explanation ?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

5. Bonjour! I found the same thing but I was shooting in a very dark venue so thought it was related to that. I switched to boost mode and no problems after that but the camera got quite warm over the 2-3 hours of shooting (with battery grip). I don't remember ever seeing this issue (or the really warm camera) when shooting with my X-T1 at least to the same degree. For what it's worth I was using my old batteries, not the newer ones (I only have the one that came with the camera).

I have exactly the same configuration.... and the same problems (or are they just normal behavior ?)

6. Many thanks for your comment ; it does not happen with my xt1, it then seems to mean that the basic battery consumption in the xt2 is very important. In fact, the camera is quite hot after a one hour non-stop use (please excuse my poor "french guy " english !)

7. Hello, got a problem with my XT2 (very recent, of course) + 18-55 + new "S" battery: the image in the viewfinder or on the screen becomes (without doing anything) very jerky after a few seconds. Switching to Boost mode seems to fix the problem. Same with grip (using 2 XT1 batteries) ; I also have to be in grip-Boost mode for apparently fixing the problem. Is this a normal behavior?

Note: It does not happen with my XT1 and its non-S batteries !

Thanks in advance for your replies and comments.

8. Last for me, I wish you could choose to make the AF-L/Instant AF button work like the AF-On that DSLRs have. AF-S is fine as is, but I don't like how with AF-C, you have to use the shutter button for continuous focus. I find I can't shoot and keep focusing, I have to pick my finger up and re initiate focus. With back button AF, you can keep focusing and shoot when you want.

+1 - using this way of back focusing (on a nikon D750) is SO convenient !
