No, if you want to use high f-numbers (so, small apertures) like for example f1:16 because it is very bright outside.
No problems at wide apertures (eg. 1:2.8)

Make yourself familiar with the risks of upgrading the firmware to 3.0 before doing so ("hunting focus", for f opened less than ~ 1:8)

Not sure if this is it, but is the sports finder mode turned off? In "Shooting setting" 1/2 (Camera symbol)
Also, you can choose a 1,25x crop for low speeds (which is forced for 30fps) in Drive setting (also shooting setting)
