I would imagine that, as a camera maker, it does not wish to compete with software developers such as Adobe and, especially, Silkypix developer ISL. It is augmenting what it already has, but a TIF export ought not to be a stretch too far. But as I have an X-E2, I am currently precluded from this club, anyway.

If you open directly the X-Transformer app and convert a file, the result will be a DNG. But if you launch X-Transformer from Lightroom (configured as an external editor), the result will be a TIFF. But the result and size are the same.

Processing speed in camera is used. And it should be blazing fast given that you can take a min. of 8 frames/sec on your x-pro2/x-t2 which are instantly compressed to jpeg.
