Well I can state firsthand that it is not waterproof. I fell in the ocean ( slipped on a rock) and my XT1 was completely submerged. Left it to dry...wont turn on..so very strongly advised against it!!!

Can anyone unfortunate enough to have experienced a similar problem please advise me? I slipped on a slippery rock at the beach yesterday and my XT1 got completely submerged...( yes it was strapped around my shoulder)...I know that it is water resistant which is not water proof...is it repairable (wont turn on at all even after being completely left out to dry) or should I claim a new camera and lens on the insurance? Grateful for advice.
