  1. Yann Fauchier https://500px.com/yannf He shoots mostly on his 90mm and he also has a subtle but crisp look to the skin textures. https://500px.com/wb_photos He also has his 90mm that outputs the same look i want (crisp visible pores) James Brokensha https://500px.com/jimbrokensha James also constanly switch between his 6d and XT1 to achieve that look and it seems his 6d does a better work at it(due to it being FF ?) So my options is to get a prime lens like the 56mm or the 90mm with the help of good lightning techniques. NON FUJI SHOOTER Dani Diamond with his 85 1.4 is so good at using natural light that his post processing always comes out good. Maybe it is all about the lens. Time to invest on a prime lens i guess. =)
  2. i am fairly new to post processing techniques and quite haven't understood how to edit faces in portraits. I believe frequency separation is the most common starting point to have beautiful faces, And also dodge n burn is used to make a more dynamic look by brightening out light areas and darkening out dark areas. But i have never achieved the look where the face complexion looks so crisp with visible pores. Something like this.. EXAMPLE : https://500px.com/photo/102954179/lisa-marie-by-julian-marochow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And this is my photo (XT1 18-55) So, where am i doing it wrong ?
  3. yeah i have sharpness to 0. And i still feel there is something lacking in the shots. (WIshed there was a good coder here in FUJI community who could make a custom rom for FUJI cameras with cool features.)
  4. I am sorry I wasn't sure what it was called and I wrote it as NEUTRAL. Infact it's the CINESTYLE look that i am after. (After reading various sites, it sort of looks neutral but retains far more detail when contrast is low)
  5. FUJI lacks a CONTRAST option but after a quick research i found a way to make it look quite flat but i feel it still lacks a bit compared to the big boys at Panasonic and Canon. I am interested in a more movie kind of look for my shots and since many might say the video feature still lacks a lot, i've seen some really good videos from a FUJI Xt1 and Xpro1. Here is my findings (settings found on the web) Color grading to be done post processing. Dynamic Range-100 Film Simulation- Pro Neg Std White Balance- Custom Color- -1 Sharpness- 0 Highlight Tone- -2 Shadow Tone- +2 Noise Reduction- -2 Has anyone achieved a neutral look with a much different settings ?
  6. That's awesome to hear. i guess i will wait for the new stuffs to arrive first before plunging in on something right now.. Tks for the great info guys.
  7. The EF-X500 is a high-end, weather-sealed model with a guide number of 50m at ISO 100, the ability to control up to three sets of TTL off-camera strobes, and a high-speed sync mode that supports the X-Pro2's maximum 1/8000 sec shutter speed. The zoom head range is 24-105mm equiv., and can go as wide as 20mm with the wide panel pulled into place. i am really interested in the ef x500 but just realized it hasnt been released as of yet. one question though; XPRO 2 specs Mechanical Shutter 4 sec. to 1/8000 sec.(P mode), 30 sec. to 1/8000 sec.(All modes) Bulb mode(up to 60 min), TIME : 30 sec. to 1/8000 sec. Electronic Shutter*3 1 sec. to 1/32000 sec.(P / A / S / M modes) Bulb mode : 1 sec. fixed, TIME : 1 sec to 1/32000sec Mechanical + Electronic Shutter 4 sec. to 1/32000 sec.(P mode), 30 sec. to 1/32000 sec.(All modes) Bulb mode(up to 60 min), TIME : 30 sec. to 1/32000 sec. Synchronized shutter speed for flash 1/250 sec. or slower QUESTION: IF this flash supports xpro2's 1/8000 HSS (MS )then technically it would work too on XT1's 1/4000 (MS) ? The cactus is getting a HSS update ?
  8. Havent really tried FLASH systems but on a shoot when the sun is behind the model (to prevent squinchin of eyes), will it be bright enough to light up the mode's face n body ?
  9. i havent tried the use of electric shutter. are there any downside to using it ?
  10. i guess most ND filters are good enough but variable ND filters have a "X" problem when turned too much. what guide number ND filters are u using for broad daylight against the sun ?
  11. Which ND filter would be ideal to shoot against the sun with the reflector being the fill light on an xt-1 ? Provided the aperture is fixed wide open at 2.8 (18-55). I only have the small flash provided with the kit at the moment. Yes I want a prime lens and a good flash system but I cant afford those for a few months.
