I’m reaching out for some advice on a specific challenge I’ve been facing with my XT3.
As a passionate carp angler, I often go on solo fishing expeditions, and over time, I’ve optimized much of my process—from landing the fish to securely handling it and capturing self-portraits. I usually work efficiently, especially when I’m at spots where I can leave the camera and tripod stationary throughout the session.
However, when I need to quickly move my camera due to lighting changes or reposition for a different angle, I frequently end up with out-of-focus shots. This problem also occurs when I shoot self-portraits at night using the XT3’s flash. I typically set up a 20-40 photo burst with 2-second pauses, but without enough time to check autofocus, many shots turn out poorly.
I’m hoping for advice on optimizing autofocus for these situations. Can anyone recommend key settings I should prioritize for reliable autofocus, particularly when using the XF35mmF2 and XF16mmF1.4 for close-ups?
Additionally, I’d really appreciate any guidance on flash settings. How do you approach balancing flash intensity with ISO, aperture, and other settings to ensure proper exposure without overexposing or losing detail in these low-light, fast-paced scenarios?
