About Me
I am retired. My career spanned chemistry, metallurgical testing, and forensic science. The bulk of my career was in forensic science, from which I retired after 34 years. I also operated a very, very small photography business (probably many of you do, or did, as well) to earn enough money to support my hobby. I didn't include my birth year in my profile, but my first SLR was a Minolta SRT 101 with a f1.8/50mm lens which was the only lens I shot with for many years because I couldn't afford to buy more back then!
Also, like probably everyone in this forum, over the years I've shot with many different camera types (film and digital) but my go-to system is built around the Nikon D750.
Many years after retirement, I discovered the Fujifilm XT system. I've owned my XT2 for maybe 2 years or less now (2022) but I have been slow and unmotivated in learning to utilize it to it's full potential. I frankly have been intimidated by the XT2! Hence, when I found this forum, I immediately logged in! I hope to learn, and share where I can.
I recently signed up with a volunteer "event capture team" at a local church. That has caused me to pull my XT2 out of the closest due to it's quiet operation, it's unobtrusive size, it's quality images, and it's quality construction. I have accumulated a number of fujifilm lenses now, but for my volunteer assignment, my 'go to' lenses are the f2.8/50-140mm and the f2.8-4/18-55mm. Due to the nature of my current assignments, like the event photography I did with my small part-time business, I don't have the luxury of time to be switching lenses during an event. I did consider using a second XT2 body but decided against it because if I'm carrying two fully set up cameras, I become the distraction (like with the use of flash units).
